Title of the Job: WGL- Lead Specialist, Internal Controls

Job Description: Job DescriptionPosition Summary
This role will be accountable for driving improvements in the design and efficiency of business processes and work with both operations and finance staff to improve the operational effectiveness of internal controls across AltaGas’ organization.This role will work alongside a team of professionals, with a direct line of communication to the organization’s Senior Executives, explaining the organizations progress towards improved internal controls and business processes that support the financial accounting and reporting requirements of the organization.Tasks and Responsibilities

  • Independently lead process owners in designing and maintaining business process controls
  • Communicate, analyze, and address potential gaps in process or control design
  • Identify and communicate opportunities to improve efficiency through the elimination of waste and redundant activities
  • Lead the oversight and operation of the Disclosure Controls & Procedures process
  • Identify and lead various projects both internally and with the group’s stakeholders
  • Draft deficiency assessments, including memos where required
  • Support control owners with respect to various audit processes
  • Complete required planning and scoping activities
  • Assist in the development and actioning of the annual Finance Controls plan
  • Partner with Internal Audit and External Audit during the internal control review process
  • Provide guidance and support to subsidiaries and subsidiary Finance Controls group
  • Assist in developing and implementing activities that promote ownership and responsibility for maintaining internal control
  • Prepare key presentation materials for impacted stakeholders
  • Providing leadership/mentorship and technical expertise to other group members

Qualifications, Skills and Abilities

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred
  • 7+ Years relevant experience required
  • CPA required
  • Keen drive for continuous improvement
  • Strong project management and organizational skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills
  • SOX and CSOX expertise

We offer a competitive salary range of $116,000 to $159,500 per year, commensurate with experience, education, and skills.
