This position will play a critical role in driving the strategic direction of our banking operations, with a strong focus on lending practices, operational efficiency, and regulatory compliance.The Vice President, Credit Operations, will be a key contributor to the overall strategic plan of Bridgewater Bank and will oversee all aspects of lending operations, ensuring the highest standards of credit and risk management. Additionally, strong collaboration and leadership skills would be essential, as the role involves working closely with different teams such as the broker and sales channels while actively promoting and protecting the interests of the Bank. This role requires a proven leader with in-depth knowledge of residential mortgage credit, banking operations, and compliance with regulatory requirements.WHO IS BRIDGEWATER BANK?Unlike a traditional bank, we have no branches. WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Report to the President, Bridgewater Bank
  • Build, lead, motivate and empower the Underwriting, Funding, Legal, Recoveries and Operations teams to enhance their skills and performance and to deliver high quality service in accordance with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Establish and ensure all credit policies, procedures and guidelines are balanced with risk and rewards, current with market trends and regulatory standards.
  • Responsible for credit analysis including market trends, bank credit performance, and key metrics.
  • Chair the Credit Management Committee and strengthen the credit risk framework within the Bank.
  • Continually seek the most effective ways to streamline operations or daily activities, reduce costs or improve quality of services
  • Drive the adoption of new processes and technologies to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Scale operational delivery functions to support organization strategies including championing technology and data.
  • Limit portfolio losses through direct oversight of the Legal and Recovery Function.
  • Develops, implements and monitors high service quality standards and measures for the organization.

WHAT YOU’VE DONE

  • You have a degree in a relevant field of study (i.e. Business), preferably B. Comm or MBA.
  • Minimum 15 years’ senior leadership experience with single family residential mortgage lending and underwriting in a federally regulated financial institution
  • Knowledge of applicable and related Acts and legislation (Bank Act, Employment Standards, Canada Labour Code etc)
  • Extensive knowledge of financial institution operations
  • Experienced with Policy, Procedures and Guidelines writing
  • Expert understanding of regulatory compliance framework
  • Understanding of consumer credit and mortgage lending on an expert level
  • Ability to understand and edit contracts
  • Exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to oversee multiple projects and initiatives in a deadline driven environment.
  • Superior ability to build and maintain effective relationships with all internal and external contacts at multiple levels within an organization.
  • Solid business acumen, organizational assessment and qualitative analytical abilities
