Our rapid growth and continuing success means we have an opening for a Senior Software Developer to join our Application Platform team in St. John’s or Toronto.As a Senior Software Developer on the Application Platform team, you will have the opportunity to collaborate with cross-functional teams including product owners and software developers to help understand business requirements and translate them into scalable and efficient API solutions. Being a Senior Software Developer at Verafin means getting the opportunity to have a positive impact on the world while doing what you love – solving complicated problems using the power of code.Role ResponsibilitiesWorking in collaboration with your team, while delivering project requirementsDescribing the API endpoints, methods, and resources in a standardized specification format (e.g., Swagger)Development of UI, Microservices, and Data Models for those servicesEnsuring the quality, performance, and security of the developed APIsDesigning solutions to solve technical problemsMentoring and coaching team membersCompleting code reviews to ensure qualityHelping develop new features, bug fixes and optimizationsEssential Skills & QualificationsA university degree or college diploma in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience2+ years of Software Development experienceExperience with API Authentication protocols including JWT, OAuth, etc.Hands-on experience with AWS services such as API Gateway, ECS, Lambda, Fargate, etcKnowledge of microservice architecture and experience building scalable, highly available systemsDeep understanding of encryption and message signing using industry standard practicesStrong understanding of RESTful API design principlesExperience with API documentation tools and standardsExperience using TerraformFundamental knowledge of software and system design principlesStrong analytical skills and creativity to solve complex problemsExperience in object-oriented software developmentExperience with automated testingWillingness to ask for help, learn from, and mentor othersTop notch interpersonal and organizational skills making teamwork a positive experienceWould be good to have experience in a few of the following areasExperience using Java, Javascript, CSS, and ReactCore Banking SystemsAmazon Web ServicesIntelligent systems, artificial intelligence, and data scienceDistributed computingDatabase technologies (PostgresSQL)Big data technologiesData extraction, transformation/cleansing, and integrationWhat Does Success Look Like In This Role?Understanding the goals of the team while using problem solving skills to achieve themHelping others realize their potential through mentoring and coachingProducing clean and efficient codeIterating consistently on coding practices for continuous improvementWhat Does Growth Look Like In This Role?Develop along the technical leadership path including Lead Developer and ArchitectThis position offers the opportunity for a hybrid work environment (2 days a week in office), providing flexibility and accessibility for qualified candidates.After the purchase of Verafin by Nasdaq in 2021, we are excited to announce as of Jan 1st 2024 we have started to move toward becoming a fully integrated part of Nasdaq.
