We are looking for a Unit Support Technician to support our Environmental Services department.Job Type: CASUALJob Outline:The Unit Support Technician performs a variety of non-clinically related activities in support of safe patient care and the nursing unit. These duties include, but are not limited to, assisting nursing staff in routine maintenance of equipment on the unit, obtaining supplies, portering of patients, and nutritional support.Education & Qualifications:

  • Grade 12 secondary school graduate or equivalent from a recognized academic institution
  • 1-2 years recent experience in a support service role
  • Basic knowledge of established Infection Control and Occupational Health & Safety practices
  • Basic knowledge of body mechanics and safe lift and transfer practices
  • Basic knowledge of sterility and aseptic technique
  • Knowledge of the departmental/hospital policies and procedures
  • Good decision-making skills to prioritize daily work activities
  • Ability to effectively communicate with patients and co-workers
  • Ability to read, write and follow instructions required
  • Ability to function as a part of the unit team
  • Demonstrated satisfactory job performance and attendance history required
