Job Description: Your Opportunity:The Administrative Support/Clerk IV in the Vascular Access Team provides clerical support to staff and physicians. This includes handling or referring incoming phone calls, greeting and directing visitors and patients. The clerk manages the information flow between Physicians, Nurses, and the multidisciplinary team and patients. This includes relaying information related to admissions, transfers and discharge of patients, diagnostic tests, medical treatments, medications, and pre- and post-operative treatments as requested. They are responsible for scheduling clinic appointments and for processing orders including consultations and referrals. The clerk maintains various data base with access information. This position also transcribes and processes Doctor’s orders including medication orders, laboratory orders, diagnostic imaging orders, other diagnostic studies and treatment orders. The clerk manages patient records and charts and may prepare and submit health care billings on behalf of Physicians for a variety of procedures, treatments, and services. The clerk will coordinate access clinics, tests and surgical bookings. The clerk will ensure an adequate level of supplies and equipment are available for the access offices and submit work orders as required. The clerk will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the vascular access office and vascular access nurses. The clerk may also assist with staff and patient screening, and other related duties. The clerk will complete unit audits as directed. This position is based at the Grey Nuns Hospital.Description:As a Unit Clerk, you will be responsible for the efficient flow of communication between health professionals, departments, patients and families while maintaining confidentiality of patient information. You will also be responsible for a variety of administrative tasks which may include reception, greeting and directing visitors, patients and health professionals, maintaining patient records and charts, transcribing and processing physician orders as well as scheduling patient tests and/or treatments. You will also be responsible for performing a range of administrative activities in support of the unit.

Required Qualifications:Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent. Completion of an accredited Unit Clerk Course or equivalent training program. Additional Required Qualifications:Computer/keyboarding skills including familiarity with Microsoft office, Word, Excel, Outlook, Connect Care, Netcare, Microsoft Teams and Zoom. Connect Care trained. Exceptional communication and organization skills are essential. Minimum 3 years’ experience (of at least 0.5 FTE equivalency) in an outpatient clinic/unit required that involves scheduling outpatient appointments and surgeries. Must be able to read, write and speak English proficiently.
