Our team is committed to ensuring that we have top talent to provide and deliver on our strategic objectives and ensure that our leadership team is supported in meeting their objectives.The Unit Aide provides support to the Dialysis Unit by working with the team to maintain a safe and clean environment, assist with patient care activities, and ensure the availability of equipment and supplies as needed. The Unit Aide’s work aligns with the departmental goals and objectives, as well as the organizations’ strategic plan.KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

  • Transport or assist in transporting patients for dialysis treatment.
  • Provide personal support and assist nurses with dialysis changeover.
  • Assist with patient care activities such as weighing and taking temperatures.
  • Contribute to maintaining a clean and safe environment.
  • Ensure equipment and supplies are readily available when needed.
  • Assist with ordering/procurement duties and stock management.

EDUCATION:

  • Grade 12 education or equivalent.
  • Personal Support Worker (PSW) Certificate received from an Ontario College of Applied Arts and Technology program or an Accredited PSW Educational Program.

REQUIRED SKILLS:

  • Previous experience in a health-related setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Tact, discretion and teamwork skills.
  • Demonstrated satisfactory work performance and attendance history.
  • Ability to organize tasks within the allotted time.
  • Ability to work efficiently, effectively and safely in a controlled environment.
  • Awareness of and acknowledgement of limitations within the role.
  • Knowledge of the policies and procedures directly associated with the role.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality.
  • Ability to work effectively with patients, colleagues and management.

ASSETS:

  • Recent experience in a dialysis setting, environmental services, or as a Personal Support Worker (PSW) in a hospital setting.
  • 1 year experience with ordering/maintaining supply chain
  • Solid computer skills including Outlook, Word and Excel.
  • Knowledge of Patient Bill of Rights.
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
  • GPA or equivalent training.
  • UFirst Training.
  • Bilingual in English and French.

HOURS OF WORKPermanent Part Time. Must be available to work shifts including days, evenings, and weekends.   • Hourly rate of pay $30.98 – $31.60, vacation accrual starting at two (2) weeks per year, with an additional 14% in lieu of benefits and 4% in lieu of paid vacation. Paid vacation percentage increases throughout your tenure.
