Posting Closing Date: October 24, 2024We are excited to invite a Therapeutic Support Worker to join our diverse and dynamic team!The Therapeutic Support Worker will play a crucial role in supporting individuals with diverse needs, including behavioral challenges, developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, and other related issues. This role involves providing supervision, personalized care, support, and guidance to students within the learning environment. The Therapeutic Support Worker will work closely with group living, clinical, and educational teams to create a safe, welcoming, and positive learning atmosphere.QualificationsEducation and Professional Certification

  • Completion of a high school diploma.
  • Certification or training as an Educational Assistant, Youth Care Worker, Rehabilitation Worker, Continuing Care Assistant, or a related field is considered an asset.

Experience

  • Up to one (1) year of experience working with individuals of all ages facing behavioral, cognitive, mental health, and/or developmental challenges.
  • Experience as an Educational Assistant, Job Coach, or Youth Care Worker is an asset.

Duties and ResponsibilitiesServices

  • Provide supervision, care, and support to individuals with diverse needs, including those with behavioral, developmental, and mental health challenges.
  • Foster a safe, supportive environment where participants can develop functional life and vocational skills.
  • Collaborate with program managers or educators in planning and program development.
  • Implement personalized education or vocational plans for participants.
  • Monitor progress, encourage positive behavior, and assist with goal achievement.
  • Communicate and partner with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Connect participants with community resources that may benefit them.
  • Handle conflicts and crisis situations with calmness and patience.
  • Administer medications and transport participants as needed.
  • Accurately document incidents, medication administration, and other relevant updates.
  • Provide personal care as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Leadership

  • Serve as a positive role model, upholding the values of the organization and ensuring fairness.
  • Collaborate and communicate effectively with the multidisciplinary team.

Management of Resources

  • Submit receipts and reconcile expenses for approved costs.
  • Maintain accurate mileage logs when using an agency vehicle.
  • Ensure the upkeep and care of all assigned assets, including buildings, vehicles, and equipment.

Safety

  • Promote and reinforce safe work practices and procedures.
  • Follow all agency and governmental policies, practices, and guidelines.

Additional Requirements

  • Completion of all mandatory training as outlined by agency policy and guidelines.
  • Hold a Class 5 Novice 2 or higher driver’s license eligible for commercial insurance coverage.
