Hybrid on-site presence is required (minimum of 3 out of 5 days per week).Position Summary:
Provide for the planning, development, implementation and maintenance of information systems policies and programs required to maximize unit effectiveness, respond to the needs of students and staff, and support the University’s mission of teaching and research. Provide services related to business application, infrastructure and operations, customer support, information security including instructional development, help desk support for students, staff, faculty and the delivery of Information Technology (IT) training workshops for the University community. Develop and implement information system strategies that support the needs of the University. Integrate information systems strategy and policy with the unit planning process.Primary Responsibilities:
- Maintaining server and desktop systems and and IT infrastructure for software across the Faculty
- Managing with IT technicians and other IT professionals to define and maintain IT standards across all departments
- Managing private and public cloud services, including Microsoft Teams and SharePoint.
- Supporting and facilitating the integration for diverse technologies – hardware and software
- Supporting IT team in resolving system incidents/problems and act as a liaison between Business Subject Matter Experts, technical teams and/or third-party vendors as required
- Transforming functional requirements into technical design and implementation plan
- Implementation of upgrades and enhancements to existing systems
- Developing test scenarios and conduct detailed functional and integration testing to ensure programming/configuration has been done in accordance with detailed functional specifications and business requirements
- Developing documentation, training materials and support knowledge transfer
Other Qualifying Skills and/or Abilities
- Undergraduate degree in Management Information Systems or Computer Science (or equivalent) with 3 years of related experience.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills – ability to perform root/cause analysis
- Demonstrated ability to work on multiple initiatives and to manage deadlines
- Demonstrated experience with managing Windows workstation and server, active directory groups and GPOs is essential.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Teams and SharePoint
- Demonstrated experience with using SCCM and PowerShell is a definite asset
- Familiarity with macOS, Linux and virtual machines considered a plus
- Knowledge of French and English will be necessary as McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties will require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at level 3.
