Job Description: Here’s what you’ll be doing….You’ll ensure that UTP’s network, systems, and infrastructure are properly managed, configured, and compliant with required security frameworks. This role also manages the Microsoft 365 tenant and other SaaS platforms, provides support for workstations and applications, and oversees server and infrastructure performance to ensure system integrity and security.*For this position, we currently have the option of working totally in office or in a hybrid model. This position may initially require some in-office time mixed with work from home during the onboarding phase.Key Responsibilities include:
- Administration of all networking infrastructure, including but not limited to firewalls, switches, site-to-site VPN’s, VLANs, and wireless access points.
- Ensure security of network and systems; Take part in the Payment Card Industry (PCI) compliance audit and remediation process with the team to maintain compliance. Audit and administer anti-virus solutions, identify and investigate reported threats, to ensure integrity of systems and network. Conduct phishing training and campaigns to promote awareness.
- Responsible for the configuration, testing, maintenance, and performance of server infrastructure / SaaS platforms company-wide, including Windows and Linux servers (physical and virtual), VMware environments, Microsoft 365 ecosystem, Sophos security suite, DNS servers, storage servers (SANs and NAS), FTP servers, other SaaS products, etc.
- Monitor and administer access control at a per user level through Active Directory or Entra ID, access control lists, MFA, PIM, and other various systems.
- Design, implement, and maintain backup jobs for all divisions. Ensure successful job completion, integrity of data on backups, and offsite cloud replication.
- Identify and replace inefficiencies in systems with automated, streamlined processes when possible. Recommend and implement new software to increase the effectiveness of the environment.
- Troubleshoot and resolve network or workstation hardware and software issues reported by users.
- Configure and monitor Microsoft Sentinel alerts. Create additional alerts as required. Respond to incidents affecting mission-critical systems during off-hours if necessary.
- Setup and deployment of servers, workstations, and networking equipment.
Education, Qualifications, and Experience:
- Post-secondary graduate in Information Technology or a related field; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Network administrator certification (e.g., CompTIA Network+, Cisco CCNA) or equivalent experience
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in networking, security, server management (Windows Server and Linux, including Red Hat)
- Relevant certifications such as Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator, VMware Certified Professional, or similar are a plus
- Experience with cloud services (e.g., Microsoft 365, Azure) and automation tools (e.g., PowerShell, Ansible) preferred
Knowledge, Skills, and Attributes:
- Excellent knowledge of networking, SAN subsystems, VMware, and firewall systems (Sophos and Linux)
- Working knowledge of DNS, SFTP, and Active Directory/Entra ID
- Proficient in managing Windows, macOS, and Linux networks and systems
- Solid understanding of personal computer hardware, peripherals, and network devices
- Expertise in managing and administering a comprehensive Microsoft 365 environment
- Familiarity with cloud services and SaaS platforms
- Experience with automation and orchestration tools
- Knowledge of Group Policy/MDM best practices within a Windows environment
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
