Position SummaryThe Faculty of Social Work at the University of Regina invites applications for one Sessional Lecturer to teach the following in person (Saskatoon) course during the Winter 2025 semester:SW 350 – Anti-Oppressive Social Work Practice
This course unravels the underlying threads of multiple oppressions and the intersection of various sources and forms of oppression. The course will focus on anti-oppressive theoretical perspectives, laws, actions, advocacy, social work ethics and their application to social work practice and policy.The semester class period is from January 6, 2025 to April 11, 2025 with the final exam period running from April 14 to 26, 2025.Sessional Lecturers that are teaching in person classes are expected to teach 13 synchronous classes throughout the semester in person on campus.Expectations for Sessional Lecturers include, but aren’t limited to, the following:

  • Preparing the course outline, designing relevant assignments, evaluating and grading student work, and submitting student grades by the required deadline.
  • Teaching course content that follows the course description, established learning objectives, and university academic guidelines.
  • Delivering 13 lectures throughout the semester
  • Encouraging and maintaining a safe and collaborative classroom environment. Providing regular support to students on course work during office hours, and as required by students.
  • Consulting with the Associate Dean (Undergraduate Programs) on academic or student- related matters as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Work HoursThis course is offered on Wednesday’s 8:30 a.m. – 11:15 a.m. The Sessional Lecturer is expected to teach on campus in-person in Saskatoon (synchronous) for each of the 13 lectures, be in the classroom 10-15 minutes before each class starts, as well as offer regular office hours for their students each week.Delivery method, days and times are subject to change.
