Each year we respond to over 125,000 calls, bringing advanced medical knowledge and interventions to the road and into the homes of Peel’s residents.In this role you will supervise a team of Logistic Technicians. Reporting to the Manager, Logistics, you will be responsible for various aspects related to fleet, equipment and supply management, including procurement, distribution, specification development, licensing, insurance, maintenance, decommissioning and auctioning to ensure compliance with Provincial Acts and Regulations, Municipal By-laws, Regional Policies and MOHLTC Certification standards.What you will do in this role:Leadership:

  • Manage, monitor and assign work to direct reports; provide coaching, mentoring, and leadership to staff on all aspects of system performance and quality
  • Ensure the Logistics section’s policies, procedures and objectives are uniformly understood and properly interpreted, implemented and administered by all assigned employees
  • Through change management initiatives and daily work, foster a culture which values are compatible with the departmental and corporate culture and values
  • Oversee the investigation of and recommendations for innovative strategies to deliver quality services, including new service development, in the most economical manner
  • Participate in long-range strategic planning for the provision of paramedic services within the Region
  • Recommend priorities and core services to the Manager, Logistics and other members of the Paramedic Leadership Team based on regular internal and external environmental assessments

Fleet, Equipment and Supplies:

  • Participate in the development of both short and long term business plans and strategies for vehicles and maintenance, equipment and materials
  • Based on vehicle reports, determines and assigns vehicles to appropriate stations to ensure fleet quality indicators are continually met so that fleet efficiency is maintained throughout the Region
  • Supervise the maintenance of the Fleet Operating Status and Maintenance System, which includes regular reporting on maintenance and inventory systems and controls, as well as preparation of reports regarding service activities and fleet related statistics
  • Provide summary reports and recommendations to Manager, Logistics

Quality Assurance and Administration:

  • Provide analysis of vehicle collisions, incidents and mission failures involving the ambulance fleet in order to ensure continuous improvement and make error reduction recommendations
  • Lead role in the Equipment Vehicle Committee, as well as equipment standards for the division

Emergency Planning and Budgeting:

  • Participate with other members of the Paramedic Leadership Team in the development of financial forecasts for the entire system covering staffing, productivity, equipment, facilities and supplies
  • Financially responsible for the section’s budget and procedures, ensuring that all budget expenditures are consistent with the requirements of meeting operating quality standards

What the role requires:

  • Completed degree in Business Studies or related field
  • Minimum of five (5) years of fleet/inventory management experience
  • Minimum of three (3) years of supervisory experience
  • CAFM certification or enrolment/completion within three years after starting the position
  • Knowledge of EMS services, program needs, related to fleet, inventory and assets
  • Combination of education and experience may be considered
  • Valid ‘G’ class driver’s license, in good standing

Skills/Abilities:

  • Working knowledge of project management principles
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations, acts, legislation related to EMS services
  • Proven ability to negotiate, collaborate with stakeholders, contract management and evaluation
  • Exceptional customer service skills, with ability to make effective, evidence-based decisions
  • Understanding of financial processes related to operational budgets
  • Computer profiency using MS Office applications
  • Demonstrate a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion through continuous development, modeling inclusive behaviors, and proactively managing bias
