This position works closely with the Manager, Clinical Service sto ensure that the appropriate clinical operational support staff are in place to contribute to optimal student and patient experiences. The Supervisor is responsible for ensuring that all support staff receive the necessary training required to accomplish their daily assignment.Duties

  • Performs supervisory duties which include performance management, coaching, feedback, conflict resolution and the delivery of annual performance reviews.
  • Creates clinic staffing schedules -structures work hours and assignments in order to meet clinic operating requirements ensuring the provision of quality services and effective team performance.
  • Recruiting / Hiring / renewing contracts. Initiates, coordinates and participates as appropriate in activities related to staffing planning.
  • Approves/denies and manages leave requests based on operational requirements.
  • Reviewing and approving support staff timesheets and leave reports in Beartracks.
  • Provide support and perform intra-oral Registered Dental Assistant duties for all School of Dentistry clinics when required.
  • Ensures staff and students are trained in emergency protocols, Infection Prevention Control (IPC), Environmental Health and Safety protocols, and Healthcare Provider CPR as appropriate.
  • Liaises between the different dental departmental units that contribute to the operation of the Clinics: Dispensary, Dental Stores, Central Sterilization, Production Lab, Equipment Technician, etc.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Minimum Diploma in Dental Assisting from an accredited program with NDAEB certification and currently registered with the College of Alberta Dental Assistants (CADA).
  • 5 years of recent clinical experience.
  • 2-3 years of experience of management or supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated skill in establishing and maintaining cooperative working relationships; ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
  • Well-developed planning and organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines and manage competing priorities.
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced and diverse work environment that is dynamic and constantly changing.
  • Excellent communication (listening, oral, and written) and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong commitment to confidentiality, discretion, and professionalism.
  • Proven proactive self-starter; high level of motivation and performance of tasks accurately with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, Access. PowerPoint); Google, PeopleSoft.
