You will play a key role in maintaining data integrity, troubleshooting data issues, assisting with winter drilling operations, and serving as a subject matter expert for geoscience software.This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute to critical data management initiatives, support exciting field operations, and serve as a technical expert for geoscience software solutions. - Subsurface technologist certificate (Geoscience or Petroleum Engineering) or related certificate or degree
- Experience with Petrel, geological, geophysical and other subsurface data, databases, data cleanup, and data governance
- Strong ability to implement standards and best practices
- Proficiency in scripting and analytics
- Excellent time management, prioritization, problem-solving, and communication skills
- Ability to initiate projects and work proactively
- Ability to collaborate effectively with individuals from various professions and educational backgrounds
Responsibilities:
- Data Stewardship Coordination: Work collaboratively with other technologists to ensure proper data collection, organization, and storage. Develop and implement data management protocols to maintain data integrity and accessibility
- Monitor the health of the Studio database, including data cleanup and addressing requests from asset team members.
- Load data to Petrel, including handling one-off requests and bulk loads
- Maintain digital data records, ensuring new data is properly loaded and stored
- Conduct winter drilling QC, coordinating with vendors, setting up QC sheets, and ensuring compliance with AER requirements
- Execute bulk loads, planned loads for winter drilling and new pads, seismic data management, and well data drive migration. Manage asset team template projects and conduct Studio database health checks
- Data Governance: Maintain sustainment documents and best practices, enforce naming conventions, and manage seismic data requirements with vendors. Coordinate winter drilling planning, including QC and communication processes
- Serve as the subject matter expert for Petrel and Studio, troubleshooting software and data issues
- Develop scripts to automate processes and improve efficiency for asset teams and the resource group
Location and other Key Details:
- You will work out of our Calgary head office, located in the Suncor Energy Centre at 150 – 6th Ave S.W.
- Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday
