Its core product lines are Property, Casualty, Auto, Surety, and Equipment Breakdown (EBI).We are currently seeking top talent to join our Programs and Portfolio Solution unit. We are looking for someone passionate and experienced in Commercial Property and Casualty Underwriting, who wants to join a winning team. If you are looking to develop and grow, to build niche underwriting knowledge this may be the change you are seeking.What You’ll DoDevelop and maintain relationships cross-functionally and with external stakeholders, to deliver exceptional broker and customer service.You will review medium to complex program and account submissions for acceptance within our current company guidelines and pricing strategy.Develop and negotiate terms and pricing for presentation to our Broker partners to write long term sustainable and profitable business.Build and maintain business relationships with our Broker partners and clients by promoting Aviva products, with emphasis on service levels and our unique value proposition.You will work towards finding opportunities for growth, including new business and renewal updates.Underwrite claims and liaise with claims personnel as required.Work closely with our Actuarial and CAT team to determine pricing strategy and capacity deployment for your portfolio.Participate in the sector self-review and Broker audits and/or our Head Office Central Technical Underwriting review process as required.Participate in various strategic initiatives and projects, provide support to the Segment Leader as required.Help identify areas of concern regarding loss ratios, risk trends, or other discrepancies, applying remediation strategies as appropriate.Build knowledge of all Information Systems/Programs within Commercial Insurance.Support maintenance of a compliant UW environment in relation to guidelines and rules.What You’ll Bring7 + years experience in the insurance industry as a commercial lines property and casualty underwriter with:Post-secondary education (Business or related discipline) or equivalent practical experienceExperience in underwriting Property and Casualty risksCIP/FCIP preferredSales/negotiation skills including an aptitude for “face to face” communication with brokers and clientsStrong knowledge of property and casualty underwriting, pricing and product in various segmentsWorking knowledge of other functional areas (i.e. Claims, Risk Management, Accounting, etc.).Strong level of understanding of underwriting philosophy, policy contracts, rating programs, risk information sources, underwriting/technical manual information, statuary constraints, and computer workflow procedures.Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, RTM, Commercial systems and other related systems.Ability to interact in a professional manner to develop long-term relationships with brokers and customers.Ability to work with internal business partners to deliver a great broker and customer experience.Ability to be self-motivated and proactively pursue potential business opportunities with brokers and customers.Ability to listen to broker and customer needs in order to effectively and efficiently meet them.What you’ll get:The salary band for this position ranges from $79,500 to $147,700.
