Job Description: Our Government client is looking for a SQL Server Developer (.Net, Visual Basic, Cold Fusion, Azure)
Length: 5.5 months contract with a possibility of extension
Location: Canada (Remote) – must be available for onsite meetings when required
Hours of Work: 7.25 hours per day, 08:15 – 16:30 Alberta time, Monday through Friday

ROLE MANDATE:
Technology and Innovation team has a requirement for a Senior Application Developer. The primary role has the overall responsibility to program and provide development and AMS support for several Executive Council and Communications and Public Engagement application Enhancements / Rewrite.Scope of services:
Applications Development
Applications design
Applications implementation
Applications documentation
Corrective and preventative applications maintenance
Database design
Applications enhancements
Analyze business and user’s requirementsROLE RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
Participate in technical analysis, architecture design and development of technical solutions to defined business problems
Write application code using .NET C# and Oracle PL/SQL with the ability to create both desktop and web based interfaces
Design and implement SQL databases
Secure and harden existing and new applications
Collect and analyze business and users requirements
Produce technical documentation and reference materials
Corrective and preventative maintenance
Adaptive maintenance such as upgrades
Enhance existing applications
Produce database ERD diagrams and systems design manuals
Perform unit testing as part of software quality assurance activity
Participate in release and iteration plans
Participate in transition activities to designee, as approved by ministry, for application support services
Knowledge transfer to operations team and other project members
Cross-training and guidance to management on needs basis
Escalating issues and risks to the development manager and program manager as required in a timely manner
Communicating project status and issues to the program and client management
Application code development and solution outputs (application assemblies, web applications, database development, installation packages, etc.)
Application code outputs that are unit tested and pass quality assurance standards
Application code solutions are added to the department’s source control system as per ministry standards
Solution design specifications
Artifacts that support the tracking and reporting of defects related to development, deployment, and testing of the product
Artifacts such as drawings, models, or documents that are used to communicate/explain estimates, analysis, work items and /or product
Reporting related to the progress of assigned work, highlighting any expected deviations from previously agreed upon estimates
Monitor shared inbox to perform daily support for the applications listedQualifications:
EUDCATIONAL AND YEARS OF WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
University graduation: Computer Science (CS), Computer Engineering (CE), Information Technology (IT) or related discipline and 4 year related experience
2 year diploma: CS, CE, IT or related discipline and 6 year related experience
1 year certificate: CS, CE, IT or related discipline and 7 year related experience
Current active professional certification or accreditation in related discipline from a recognized issuing body and 7 year related experienceMUST TO HAVE SKILLS:
5 years of experience doing SQL Server development including procedures, indexes, foreign key relationships, table creation, and entity model diagrams
5 years of experience and technical knowledge of Continuous Integration (CI)
5 years of experience building applications using Microsoft’s Windows Communication Foundation
5 years of experience using and developing with Cold Fusion
5 years of experience using and developing with VBA/VB6 Office Automation
5 years of experience using Team Foundation Server and/or Azure DevOps Server
5 years of experience with GIT repository, continuous delivery, continuous integration, and unit testing
5 years of experience with Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 or higher
5 years of experience with programming language .NET
5 years of experience with programming language .NET Core
5 years of experience with programming languages SQL
5 years of experience with programming language Visual Basic
5 years of experience with software development processes and all associated best practices, methods, standards, tools and policies
5 years of experience working as a senior application developer on multiple large COTS/Custom software applications in a development environment comparable in size and complexity to the Government development environmentNICE TO HAVE SKILLS:
3 years of experience parsing, splitting, and building PDF documents in .NET
3 years of experience with Microsoft Entity Framework
3 years of experience with Java Script libraries JQuery, Datatables, SuiteAlert, and Bootstrap
3 years of experience with Agile backlog management tools such as JIRA or Azure DevOps
3 years of experience with disaster recovery testing
5 years of experience with government EC/CPE applications
3 years of experience integrating applications with LDAP / Active Directory with .NET
3 years of experience using DevExpress ASP.NET web form controls or DevExpress ASP.NET MVC controlsSOFT SKILLS:
Ability to learn quickly, problem solve/troubleshoot, work independently and in a team
Ability to manage stress and conflict
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group
The ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with team members, management and vendorsONSITE MEETINGS:
In the event of an onsite meeting, the Government does not pay for travel to attend on-site meetings, nor any expenses related to relocation, commuting, housing/accommodation, food/drink
Onsite meetings include but are not limited to strategic, architectural, and technical discussions, meeting with team members, senior managers, directors, executive directors and business clients. Frequency of meeting could be up to 3-4 times per monthBACKGROUND CHECK:
