Job Description: The Mood and Anxiety Program (CAMH) is seeking a full-time, temporary (to March 31st, 2025) Social Worker 2 within the New Beginnings multi-disciplinary team and with its community partners. Using culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approaches the social worker will provide individual and group mental health counselling to refugees and other vulnerable newcomers. The social worker will also work with settlement partners and community health services to develop refugee mental health resources for agency staff and clients. Working with community partners, workshops will be developed and delivered to build the capacity of service providers across the province working with clients experiencing or at risk of experiencing mental health conditions. Clients are referred to the clinic for consultation, assessment, treatment, psychosocial and mental health support. The social worker has a key role in helping clients navigate the system and facilitates coordinated care leading to improved integration. Triage, conducting assessments and providing individual support with instrumental issues and group treatment using evidence based care including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Interpersonal Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy within a trauma informed framework will be required.The social work position interfaces closely with community providers such as primary care, settlement services and legal services to provide coordinated services.The successful candidate will possess a Master of Social Work degree combined with 3 years of post-graduate work experience in a health care facility. Preference will be given to those who have experience working with individuals experiencing mental health and or addiction issues and who have worked with refugees, newcomers or diverse populations. You will be a registered member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers. You have knowledge and experience in the assessment and provision of psychosocial support and treatment of clients presenting with complex mental health concerns using adapted evidence based approaches where necessary.Building, fostering and maintaining collaborative relationships, excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively in a dynamic inter professional clinical teaching environment, and experience working with minimal supervision is essential. An appreciation of program and system level issues for the refugee population is an asset. Experience negotiating service systems, adult education, working with clients and families through life transitions such as migration and brief therapies is also an asset. You possess excellent communication; written and verbal as well as interpersonal and teamwork skills. You must be computer competent and able to use an electronic health record efficiently and will ensure data requirements are met. The capacity to work with clients of diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds is essential.
