We made air travel more affordable for Canadians and now we’re going global.Join us and love where you’re going.Overview of role:The main purpose of this role is to safely provide maintenance and repair to all WestJet Training Devices (Full Flight Simulators, Cabin Trainers and Fix-Based Training Devices). This role is responsible for ensuring that all training devices meet or exceed Transport Canada qualification standards and or Boeing specifications/regulations. Providing a safe, caring and clean working environment while offering an exceptional guest experience is required.Key deliverables include:

  • Maintain all training devices to the regulatory standards
  • Maintain a safe, positive working environment
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, debug and repair failed systems in normal and IROP situations
  • Perform preventive maintenance and testing on all training devices
  • Ensure accurate and detailed documentation of procedures, processes and daily activities
  • Perform daily operational testing of scheduled training devices
  • Assist with Quality Test Guide’s (QTG’s)
  • Identify, research and submit requests for required parts
  • Perform additional tasks as required

Experience and qualifications:

  • Completion of the WestJet Simulator Technician Apprenticeship Program or minimum 4 years of equivalent work experience required
  • CAE Flight Simulator experience is an asset
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team as well as unsupervised
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Highly motivated, organized and priority driven
  • Intermediate knowledge of aircraft systems, avionics and theory of flight
  • Intermediate ability to interpret schematic diagrams
  • Intermediate knowledge of visual systems maintenance, calibrations, troubleshooting and repair pertaining to Flight Simulators
  • Intermediate knowledge of test and repair equipment (digital multimeter, oscilloscope, function generator, frequency counter, soldering equipment, etc)
  • Intermediate knowledge of component troubleshooting and repair at a board level
  • Intermediate knowledge of computer operating systems and software (CentOS, Windows XP, Windows 2000, MS Office, etc)
  • Intermediate knowledge of hydraulic theory and systems
  • Intermediate knowledge of mechanical and electro-mechanical theory
  • Basic knowledge of computer networking and computer programming languages (C, C++, Fortran)
  • Basic knowledge of PLC operation and programming
  • Ability to work with hand and shop tools
  • Able to work in a 24/7 environment; shift work is required
  • Able to obtain and maintain an Airport Restricted Area Pass
  • Able to lift 50 pounds
  • Able to bend, kneel, crawl, stoop and climb repetitively
