As in a professional office, students will work in teams to obtain experience in cooperative action and in the management of time and effort. Projects will be selected in order to expose students to the complexity of real problems, and to suggest the range of policy and planning issues which students might encounter after graduation. Senior practitioners in the Toronto region also work with students in the Workshop.Estimate of course enrollment: 30Estimate of TA Support: NoneClass Schedule: Tuesdays, 5-8pmSessional dates of appointment: January 1, 2025 – April 30, 2025Salary: Sessional Lecturer I – $9,457.89. Sessional Lecturer I Long-term – $9,930.79. Sessional Lecturer II – $10,121.76. Sessional Lecturer II Long-term – $10,326.61; Sessional Lecturer III – $10,362.76; Sessional Lecturer III Long-term – $10,570.01Please note that should rates stipulated in the collective agreement vary from rates stated in this posting, the rates stated in the collective agreement shall prevail.Minimum Qualifications: A graduate-level professional degree in planning is required, as well as a minimum of five years of professional planning experience in the public or private sectors. Candidates must also possess suitable background knowledge of, and considerable experience dealing with, core planning activities such as land use planning, urban design, community consultation, community development, cultural planning, and sustainability.Preferred Qualifications: Previous university level teaching experience is preferred. Previous experience teaching workshop courses preferred. Professional planning designation preferred (e.g. RPP).Brief description of duties: Lectures on planning practice. Identifying appropriate ‘client’ advisors and projects and working with clients to develop projects.
