Job Description: Job Description:HM Note: This remote role requires that the contractor must work within Canada for data security reasons and attend any scheduled onsite meetings in Victoria BC (once in 2-3 months.). All profiles must include a minimum of two (2) business references for applicable projects and the project commences September 16, 2024Description:The ServiceNow Senior Functional Consultant – SAM will support the SAM practice in the Service Management Branch. The work will include providing leadership on HAM processes and configuration to generate enterprise-wide standardization in asset management.The ServiceNow Senior Functional Consultant – SAM will be responsible for:Client Engagement:
- Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs and current asset management processes.
- Following ServiceNow’s prescriptive approach, conduct workshops and meetings to gather detailed requirements and objectives for SAM implementation.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the SAM functionality implementations.
SAM Implementation:
- Assess the client’s current ServiceNow configuration and data models.
- Design and implement the SAM framework in alignment with client requirements and ServiceNow best practices.
- Map existing data and processes to the SAM leading practices to ensure comprehensive and accurate SAM processes across the organization.
- Configure and customize the ServiceNow platform to support SAM, including creating and modifying existing solutions to better align with leading practices.
Process Improvement and Best Practices:
- Identify opportunities to improve service management processes through the adoption of SAM practices.
- Provide guidance on SAM best practices and ensure alignment with industry standards.
- Develop and document procedures and guidelines for maintaining the SAM functionality within the ServiceNow environment.
Training and Knowledge Transfer:
- Develop training materials and conduct training sessions for client stakeholders and users.
- Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions to ensure the client’s team can effectively manage and maintain the SAM solution.
- Provide ongoing support and mentoring to client staff as needed.
Project Management and Reporting:
- Work with project managers to create project plans, timelines, and deliverables for SAM functionality implementations.
- Track progress against project milestones and provide regular status updates to clients and internal stakeholders.
- Identify and manage risks and issues related to SAM implementations, ensuring timely resolution.
Architecture Review and Future State Design:
- Leverage the existing architectural review reports and, in conjunction with the architectural team, conduct a thorough analysis of the current ServiceNow solution architecture as it relates to SAM.
- Support the design and documentation of a target state functional model for SAM that aligns with best practices and organizational goals.
- Support the documentation of technical debt and develop strategies to eliminate it as it relates to SAM.
- Support the creation of a roadmap of initiatives to transition from the current state to the future state as it relates to SAM.
Consultant QualificationsThe ServiceNow Senior Functional Consultant – SAM is required to have the following skills and experience:
- Education:
o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. Advanced degree preferred.
- Experience & Skills: o Minimum of 5+ years experience in Software Asset Management (SAM):
o Deep expertise in managing software assets throughout their lifecycle, including procurement, deployment, tracking, and disposal.o Proven experience in implementing and optimizing SAM processes within the ServiceNow platform.
- ServiceNow Expertise:
o Extensive experience with ServiceNow SAM module, including reconciliation and remediation.o Strong understanding of ServiceNow ITSM, ITAM, and CMDB modules, and how they integrate with SAM.o Experience in configuring and customizing ServiceNow workflows, forms, and integrations to support SAM processes.
- SAM Best Practices:
o In-depth knowledge of industry best practices for software asset management, including entitlements and allocations management, compliance, and financial tracking.o Ability to design and implement effective asset tracking systems that ensure data accuracy and asset visibility.
- Process Optimization:
o Proven track record of optimizing SAM processes to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure compliance.o Experience in aligning SAM processes with broader IT and business strategies.
- Client-Facing Skills:
o Excellent ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels, from technical teams to executive leadership.o Strong communication skills, capable of explaining SAM processes and benefits to non-technical audiences.
- Problem-Solving and Analytical Skills:
o Highly skilled in analyzing hardware asset data to identify trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.o Proficient in troubleshooting and resolving issues related to hardware asset management within ServiceNow.
- Project Management:
o Experience in leading HAM projects, including planning, execution, and monitoring of project milestones.o Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring timely delivery and alignment with organizational goals.
- ITIL and IT Service Management Frameworks:
o Familiarity with ITIL and other relevant IT service management frameworks, with the ability to apply these principles to HAM.
- Data Management:
o Experience in data modeling, database management, and ensuring data integrity within ServiceNow’s SAM module.
- Certifications:
o ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – SAM (Hardware Asset Management) preferred.o ITIL Foundation Certification or higher is a plus.
