Job Description: Job SummaryJob DescriptionThe Branch Technology team is searching for a Senior Software Developer to join our team. As a Software Developer, you will partner with our other agile squads, business partners, and Site Reliability Engineering team in British Columbia/Calgary/Toronto to design, develop, and deploy capabilities for branch applications which all advisors use nationally. This role will help bring to life new capabilities and eliminate technical debt to enable RBC advisors to deliver a seamless client experience. This is a great opportunity for anyone who is looking to advance your agile skills, work cross functionally across organizations to deliver value for client facing employees, and modernize legacy infrastructure.What will you do?Design, develop, test, implement, maintain, and support technical solutions supporting mainframe hosted applications.Provide suggestions on areas for improvement within the application suite, with the goal of eliminating technical debt and enhancing automation.Document all updates and changes to applications.Work cross functionally with business partners, other agile squads, and Site Reliability Engineering teams to prioritize and complete project workIn this role, you will communicate and interact frequently with RBC partners and/or employees located across Canada and/or worldwide.What do you need to succeed?Must-haveMinimum 5+ years of experience designing, developing, implementing, and maintain mainframe hosted applications, primarily using COBOL 6 in batch/file management, IMS (database/data communication), MQ, and DB2.Understanding of job scheduling.Change/release management – experience deploying to production environments via Dev Ops pipelines.Software change management tools (ideally GitHub, Jenkins, and Urban Code Deploy) to configure/create a build after committing changes to auto-deploy the code and troubleshoot failures.Nice-to-haveUnderstanding of zOS/Connect environment.Agile software development (software development life cycle) – experience working in a cross functional team as a software developer, from project ideation to production deployment.DevOps experience with tools such as Dynatrace, Kibana, and Splunk monitor applications.What’s in it for you?We thrive on the challenge to be our best, progressive thinking to keep growing, and working together to deliver trusted advice to help our clients thrive and communities prosper.
