Job Description: Job SummaryJob DescriptionWHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?Global IT Risk is embarking on a multi-year journey as part of RBC’s ongoing plan to transform how we manage IT risk at RBC. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, building, and maintaining high-quality technology solutions in support of this transformation effort. This role will involve collaborating with cross-functional teams to gather requirements, architect solutions, and implement features that enhance overall system functionality and performance.WHAT WILL YOU DO?Design, develop, and maintain complex software applications using React, JavaScript, Groovy, Python, Markdown, APIs and the Docusaurus site builderContribute to the architectural decisions and design patterns for new and existing systemsConduct thorough code reviews to ensure adherence to best practices, coding standards, and quality assurance protocolsWork closely with product managers and other stakeholders to understand requirements and deliver solutions that enhance user experienceTroubleshoot, debug, and optimize existing applications for performance and scalabilityCreate and maintain comprehensive documentation for software design, development/maintenance processes and API documentationManage the implementation of multiple concurrent initiatives of varying complexity in a time efficient manner. Monitor and control activities according to plan.Collaborate and contribute on cross-functional enterprise initiatives and manage the effective implementation of assigned deliverables.Establish strong working relationships across teams to build influence and impact with key partners.Contribute to ongoing administrative program activities as required.WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?Must have:Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, and two or more years of professional software development experienceDemonstrated ability in React and JavaScript, and knowledge of security best practices in software developmentExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to non-technical stakeholdersStrong organizational, project management and time management capabilities.Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on delivering efficient and effective solutionsNice-to-have:Proficient in Groovy, Python, API development, and Markdown, and experienced with relational databases, including design and optimization, and version control systems, preferably Git.Experience with Jira configuration and Jira APIs, proficient in charting / processes design tools (e.g. LucidChart, Visio), and familiarity with DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelinesRBC is committed to supporting flexible work arrangements when and where available.
