Job Description: Job Description:Wood performs consulting and EPCM services for many of Canada’s power generation and power distribution companies.Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Senior Project Manager. Reporting to the Manager Project Delivery, this position is located in our Vancouver, BC or Calgary, AB offices. This role has overall responsibility for the successful execution of Transmission, Substation and Distribution projects in our Vancouver office. Final salary will be based on relevant and applicable experience, education, and the specific skill set and qualifications required for the role.Responsibilities:

  • Safe, environmentally responsible, timely and on-budget delivery of substation, transmission and distribution projects on an EPCM basis.
  • Successfully manage the project/program through its lifecycle, starting from project feasibility/definition, development of the project plan, scope, budget, schedule, procurement and contracting strategies, through to the engineering, procurement, and construction phases.
  • Contributes to and reviews the project proposal and plan to determine timeframe, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project. Contributes to setting project evaluation parameters.
  • Establishes project procedures and leads production of comprehensive project documentation including project plans, cost estimates, and schedules at various stages of project delivery, providing a clear roadmap for project teams.
  • Responsible for delivery of agreed upon schedule and financial performance, proactively intervening to avoid slippage.
  • Coordinate project team members and sub-contractors, as well as the client to ensure cost effective, efficient, safe, and timely completion of projects to meet and/or exceed client expectations.
  • Maintains effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders (i.e. external clients, local governments, the public, and First Nations) throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Regularly reports project progress to senior management and/or the client. Creates and issue monthly status reports to the project sponsors, the client and management regarding the overall project progress and performance, utilizing client systems where appropriate.
  • Guides and directs a multidiscipline project team, which may include external specialists and involve staff from multiple offices and sites.
  • Manage relationships with external suppliers and sub-contractors to resolve any cost, schedule, and quality issues as they arise.
  • Coordinate safety and constructability reviews and engineering progression design review meetings.
  • Negotiates changes to project scope or specification with the customer. Follows Change Management process to identify and approve modifications to scope, cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Leads ongoing focus on management of project risks and key performance indicators through proactive risk identification and mitigation strategy development.
  • Responsible for the project HSSE leadership, ensures a program of initiatives and auditing schedule are established and that HSSE and quality management issues are proactively addressed.
  • Complete onsite field visits, mainly within British Columbia, as required to assist with seamless project monitoring and execution.
  • Facilitates the setup of information management systems / applications as applicable to suit various life phases of projects and manage information management project team.
  • Mentor and train junior project managers and project services support staff.

Qualifications:

  • Engineering Degree from a recognized university along with a Professional Engineering Designation with EGBC and a Project Management Professional (PMP) Certificate is preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of pertinent engineering or operations experience on transmission, substation, or distribution projects, including at least 7 years of increasing responsibility as a project manager.
  • Proven project management experience and experienced in stakeholder management, risk and change management processes, various contract models and sound knowledge of project scheduling, monitoring, and forecasting techniques.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving abstract.
  • Available to travel within BC.
