Title of the Job: Senior Instructional Designer – Contract

Location: Ottawa, ON

Job Description: The Senior Instructional Designer will be contracted to the Department of Defense (DND) to redesign and enhance the Unit Environmental Officer course that is offered.The UEnvO course is about 2.5 days in duration and covers a variety of topics, including general environmental terms and concepts, Government of Canada policies (e.g., Federal Sustainable Development Strategy), applicable federal legislation and environmental due diligence and Defence Administrative Orders & Directives (DAODs) and related instructions.High-level tasks include:· Leading project management meetings and providing email updates· Preparing and maintaining an up-to-date work plan· Developing updated and enhanced instructor and learner materials as well as military qualification standard and training plan associated with the course· Conducting a pilot of the refreshed UEnvO course· Adjusting instructor and learner materials to reflect pilot findingThe contractor must develop a work plan, lead project meetings, collect and review key internal and external information, develop draft and final versions, lead a pilot, and provide work direction to any additional team members.The Contractor Must:· Be fully bilingual in French and English· Be available to attend meetings at Carling Campus, 60 Moodie Drive, Ottawa· Have a Master’s degree in education, adult learning, or distance education· Have at least 10 years of experience as a learning designerIt is desired that the contractor have:· A history of projects related to course design of scientific and environmental content· Have worked with municipal, provincial/territorial, and/or federal governments as a learning designerOther NotesShould the candidate be qualified, they will be asked to assist in creating for a scope of work as part of the proposal process.Compensation is open to negotiation.
