As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will bring 8+ years of post-graduate experience, strong leadership skills, and expertise in Revit to oversee electrical design projects from concept to completion. You will act as an Engineer of Record for key projects, mentor junior team members, and ensure the seamless delivery of electrical systems within a multidisciplinary environment. This is an opportunity to play a strategic role in shaping projects that drive the future of urban and industrial environments.Role Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise the design of complex electrical systems, including power distribution, lighting, life safety, and communication systems, for large-scale projects across various sectors.
- Oversee and manage the coordination of electrical systems with in-house design teams, construction managers, and external consultants using Revit and BIM processes.
- Ensure all designs adhere to industry standards and applicable building codes, ensuring high-quality, sustainable, and cost-effective solutions.
- Conduct site inspections, building condition assessments, and provide expert insights during construction phases to ensure the quality of installations.
- Manage contract administration duties, including issuing site instructions, reviewing change orders, and addressing contractor queries.
- Collaborate with project teams to resolve on-site challenges and ensure all work complies with technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
- Mentor and guide junior engineers, EITs, and design staff, fostering professional growth and ensuring consistent technical excellence across your team.
- Delegate tasks and manage team workloads, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within scope, and to the highest standard.
- Lead by example, cultivating a collaborative, inclusive environment that encourages continuous learning and development.
- Apply advanced knowledge of Canadian Electrical Code, BC Building Code, and National Building Code to electrical design projects, ensuring compliance with safety standards.
- Demonstrate a solid understanding of structured wiring systems, intelligent building concepts, and sustainable design principles.
- Identify and mitigate contractual and professional liabilities throughout the design and construction phases, ensuring risks are managed effectively.
- Engage with clients, consultants, and authorities having jurisdiction to ensure seamless communication and resolve technical issues as they arise.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and stakeholders, ensuring expectations are met and exceeded.
- Present and communicate technical solutions clearly, contributing to project success and client satisfaction.
- Ensure all project close-out processes are completed to the highest standards, with all documentation and systems in place.
- Provide final assessments of electrical systems, ensuring they meet both regulatory and contractual requirements.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering; P.Eng certification required.
- 8+ years of post-graduate experience, with a proven track record in the design and delivery of electrical systems for buildings and infrastructure projects.
- Expertise in Revit and BIM processes for electrical design and coordination.
- Strong leadership skills, with a history of managing and mentoring junior engineers and technical staff.
- Deep understanding of electrical codes, standards, and best practices.
- Proven experience in power distribution, lighting, and life safety systems design.
- Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Excellent communication, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
