Our team members have what they need to make a meaningful impact and are truly valued for who they are and what they contribute.To learn more about CIBC, please visitWhat you’ll be doingThe Senior Director, Examination Methodology, Programs and Strategy is responsible for the development and maintenance of the Regulatory Compliance and Enterprise Anti-Money Laundering Exam methodology and tools and ensures continuous improvement of examination practices in alignment with industry best practices. You will oversee the development of the Data and Continuous Monitoring Exam strategies to support the effectiveness of the examination Program. You will be responsible for the design and execution of the Quality Assurance Program including the development and reporting of associated individual and team performance metrics for end to end examinations. You will develop and implement the training strategy for the Compliance & EAML Exam Program (CEEP) team, aligning with the CEEP Centre of Excellence team vision. You will also oversee and evolve the annual examination planning process, including identifying and prioritizing risks through risk assessment process that considers emerging regulatory risks through effective partnerships with Heads of Compliance and AML subject matter experts.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.How you’ll succeedThought Leadership – You are a strategic thought leader with data expertise and will lead the development of a data strategy for the examinations team including working with the team to identify uses of data in examinations, and evolving data and exam practices to support a continuous monitoring program.Compliance – Ensure compliance with policies, standards, guidelines and controls by applying the policies and controls fairly and consistently so employees understand what to expect.People Management – Coach and mentor the direct reports on methodology and governance requirements to be able to support the broader examination group. Provide leadership and effective management of business unit staff to influence employee commitment to the organization, to the team, and to their job.Industry expert – Lead, develop, and implement a comprehensive regulatory compliance framework aligned with the organization’s goals and regulator expectations.Who you areYou’re a certified professional. Certified Internal Auditor (CIA) designation or equivalent certification is an asset. Demonstrated ability to exercise a high degree of independent judgement and make sound decisions.You have a degree/diploma in accounting, finance, or a related field. Minimum of 15 years of experience in Compliance, Risk Management, or Legal roles within the banking or financial services industry; extensive knowledge of applicable banking laws and compliance frameworksYou can demonstrate experience developing and implementing examination methodology and standards. It is an asset that you bring 12 + years of experience in auditing and or examinations (internal or external), with at least 8 years of experience in a supervisory or management role and a proven track record of developing and implementing audit methodology and standards.Your influence makes a difference. You know that relationships and networks are essential to success. You have demonstrated ability/experience liaising with Internal Audit, Compliance, other Risk groups, 1LODs, and Regulators during reviews and lead the compilation, review and submission of requested materials.You are a strong communicator. Expert interpersonal, communication (oral and written) and problem-solving skills, including effective engagement with all levels of the organization, including senior management, board of directors and regulators. Proven leadership and management experience, with a track record of successfully leading Compliance teams.You give meaning to data. You enjoy investigating complex problems and making sense of information. You communicate detailed information in a meaningful way. Ability to support CCO in executing the Compliance strategy and program, and take on projects or initiatives as directed by CCO and CAMLO. Experience with overseeing day-to-day operations of the Compliance department, ensuring policies are effectively implemented and understood by staff.You understand that success is in the details.
