Our team members have what they need to make a meaningful impact and are truly valued for who they are and what they contribute.To learn more about CIBC, please visitWhat you’ll be doingReporting to the Vice President, the Senior Director Compliance & EAML Examination is accountable for managing a portfolio of large, highly complex exams and for providing strategic thought leadership, and for leading multi-skilled exam teams. Exam responsibilities include all areas of the examination portfolio. Through day to day activities, the Senior Director will assess quality of business processes, report any related internal control weaknesses, advise examinees of best practices, work collaboratively with the other exam teams under the VP, and, in some cases, lead exams outside of core portfolio while also actively demonstrating support for CIBC’s purpose to help make client and employee ambitions a reality. The Senior Director will play a key role in leading strategic initiatives to further align the examinations program to a Centre of ExcellenceAt CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.How you’ll succeed
- Regulatory Oversight – Be aware of any upcoming changes in the industry. Act as a subject matter expert responding to questions from the business and team regarding AML regulations, best practices and internal policies and procedures. Thorough knowledge of risk management practices, including enterprise risk management functions and knowledge of specific LOB that the portfolio covers.
- Strong Communication and Interpersonal Skills – Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills. Have the ability to communicate effectively with different lines of business regarding the Regulations and the results of the examination. Well-developed writing skills sufficient to prepare interpretative, analytical and creative materials involving precise articulation of ideas and opinions.
- Lead Examinations – You will lead and oversee high quality, thorough and timely execution of examinations. You will use your well-developed examinations skills to evaluate the effectiveness of processes and compliance with regulatory requirements, and identify and recommend areas for improvement.
- Relationship building – You will establish and maintain positive working relationships with various LOBs, Compliance partners, Internal Audit and other Governance partners to help them develop and implement an appropriate regulatory compliance culture, compliance risk and control processes that are effective, cost-efficient that help achieve business objectives.
- Strong Leadership – Strong leadership and people management skills for motivating, directing and coaching multi-disciplined team members to generate high quality work. Ability to manage exam staff having a variety of technical specialties.
Who you are
- You can demonstrate experience in thorough knowledge of risk management practices, including enterprise risk management functions and knowledge of specific LOB that the portfolio covers.
- It is an asset that you bring 10 + years’ experience with auditing in the financial services sector with a focus on Capital Markets, Wealth Management and Retail Banking, the related AML regulatory, control and operating environments including comprehensive understanding of CIBC Regulatory Compliance Management Framework.
- You’re a certified professional. University degree combined with an auditing or accounting designation (CPA, CIA) or a post-graduate business degree (MBA) is preferred.
