Closing Date: October 11, 2024Altum Health is looking for an experienced professional to fill the key role of Senior Director – Altum HealthAs a key member of the Altum Health Senior Leadership team, the Senior Director is responsible for clinical operational activities, quality and outcomes and WSIB Engagement Lead for ongoing WSIB engagement strategy, business growth and development. This role works with the Executive Leadership Team, Senior Managers and Site Managers supported by various internal stakeholders to ensure activities and programs are consistent with Altum Health’s philosophy and strategic objectives and that efficient and effective administrative and quality service delivery is provided. The primary responsibilities include:Operations Management and Strategic Planning

  • Participates in the development of the strategic direction for specific program areas, and assume responsibility for executing the strategic direction and clinical operation of Altum Health services and programs as assigned
  • Create and promote a vision of service excellence in the interdisciplinary care of clients, ensuring a model of care delivery that is consistent with UHN’s overarching Purpose, Values and Principles
  • Ensure operational effectiveness and quality outcomes as well as consistent Service Delivery across all Altum Health sites; work with Senior Managers and Site Managers to maintain a high level of customer satisfaction across all sites
  • Develop, implement and manage short- and long-term plans for the program/service which are in alignment with site and/or organizational goals and strategies
  • Monitor changing priorities, trends, legislative requirements and/or other internal and external emerging issues, and recommend and lead the implementation appropriate strategies to achieve desired results

WSIB Relationships, Growth, and Branding

  • Act as the lead point of contact for external stakeholders of Altum Health, building a strong customer relationship
  • WSIB Engagement Lead for ongoing WSIB engagement strategy activities (including RFP responses, pilot proposals, etc);
  • Leading relationship management activities to support WSIB Leadership team engagement with Altum and UHN Executive team (e.g. Monthly UHN/WSIB Exec meetings);
  • Escalation point of contact for WSIB Leadership team.
  • Successful award and operationalization of the WSIB contract
  • Lead monthly client reviews of services provided with reporting of SLA’s, KPI’s
  • Lead the implementation of clinical competency review to ensure appropriate clinical capacity with support from People & Culture
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders in identifying new program opportunities and service lines; support the RFP process where required
  • Initiate and develop respectful and collaborative working relationships with peers and associates in other programs across UHN to foster a productive and satisfying work environment and the highest quality healthcare experience and outcome for client
  • Represent Altum Health internally on UHN committees, as required, and UHN in the external community at conferences, workshops, etc.
  • Work closely with leadership team for the external marketing of programs/services; develop, review, negotiate and implement new business contracts

Quality & Outcomes

  • Ensure the quality improvement measures, indicators, and outcome-criteria within operations are in place and consistent with the standards established are maintained, and manage the maintenance of program/service quality improvement initiatives that are aligned with established site, program and UHN standards
  • Participate in risk management activities and ensures appropriate risk mitigation strategies
  • Collaborate in the development and enforcement of standards, policies and procedures; monitor and report quality management/improvement outcomes on a regular basis and collaborate with site/program leadership to develop action plans, as required, to address identified issues
  • Assist site/program leadership in ensuring ongoing Accreditation standards are met and reports are completed in a timely and accurate manner
  • Lead the design, launch and implementation of an effective organization-wide Performance Measurement and Management System in collaboration with key stakeholders, including the development and distribution of the AH Balanced Scorecard and the AH Annual Performance Outcomes Report
  • Ensure that Altum Health’s service delivery model exceeds industry standards for patient outcomes and patient satisfaction
  • Ensure that service level agreements are met or exceeded and make certain that Altum Health maintains a high level of satisfaction for its industry partners, key stakeholders, and referral sources
  • Facilitate regular reporting on current performance-related data and service level achievement
  • Lead, develop and oversee the performance improvement and patient safety plan for the organization, ensuring a comprehensive change management strategy where needed
  • Lead CARF accreditation process for Altum Health

Financial Management

  • Work with Executive Leadership, Senior Managers and Site Managers to develop the annual operating budget for the utilization of human capital and other resources with support from the Senior Director, Finance
  • Collaborate with key stakeholders to achieve top line revenue and bottom-line profits across all sites; work to identify and develop strategies to streamline operations, improve programs/services, and reduce costs
  • Monitor, analyze and reconcile variances from approved plan, and prepare and present financial reports, as required
  • Develop the department’s annual operating budget for the utilization of resources
  • Analyze financial/statistical reports on a regular basis; monitor, analyze and reconcile variances from approved plan; takes remedial action to attain budgeted targets
  • Prepare and present financial reports, as required
  • Approves expenditures within signing authority limits

People Management

  • Manage all aspects of people management, with support from People & Culture where needed
  • Support organizational strategies and initiatives (e.g. staff satisfaction and employee engagement) to promote a motivated and highly functioning team-based workforce; promote initiatives and facilitate opportunities for the professional growth and development of staff

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 8 years of experience managing and leading large teams and initiatives in a healthcare setting; experience in a multi-site rehabilitation setting an asset
  • Demonstrated knowledge of provincial healthcare policy and trends
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to create integrated plans, influence outcomes and engage multiple stakeholders
  • Excellent analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills with the ability to identify trends, establish benchmarks and provide credible analysis and business recommendations
  • Excellent knowledge and experience with practices related to budget planning, internal controls, and financial reporting
  • Demonstrated ability to build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders and industry partners
  • Proven track-record of building engaged and high-performing teams
  • Client-service oriented, with the ability to effectively work with diversity and appreciate that people with different opinions, backgrounds and characteristics bring richness to the challenge or situation at hand
