  • As Senior Counsel, Global Procurement, you will be a member of Marsh McLennan’s Legal, Compliance and Public Affairs team and play a crucial role in providing legal support and guidance to our global procurement function for Marsh McLennan as well as our Marsh and Mercer businesses
  • You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with applicable laws and regulations, negotiating and drafting procurement contracts, and managing legal risks associated with procurement activities across our global operations

We will count on you to:

  • Be the lead lawyer to support on vendor contracts globally
  • Work closely with the global contracting centers of excellence (currently based in Belfast and Toronto)
  • Support the wider vendor management team with internal projects and various legal matters
  • Draft, review and negotiate vendor agreements and ancillary legal documentation
  • Support the legal team in maintaining template agreements, playbooks, and implementing process developments
  • Confidently liaise with the business on day-to-day contractual queries and leading on key vendor negotiations
  • Maintain up-to-date legal knowledge to ensure compliance with relevant policies and legislation

What you need to have:

  • Law degree from an accredited law school
  • Member of the Bar of a Canadian province or US state
  • 7+ years’ experience in commercial/contract work, ideally in the procurement area and with a privacy/technology background
  • Experience contracting with major technology suppliers for such things as cloud services, cybersecurity services and hardware supply
  • Document drafting and negotiation skills
  • Experience working with data protection legislation and negotiating Data Protection Agreements
  • Proficient with the MS Office suite
