The Ajmera Transplant Centre (ATC) is one of the largest transplant centres in North America, and among the top in the World. ATC is deeply committed to delivering the highest quality of care, optimizing patient experience and outcomes for our patients across their transplant journey from assessment, listing, surgery, short and long-term post-transplant care. Reporting to the Program Medical Director, the Senior Clinical Informatics Specialist will work closely with ATC physicians and clinical teams to develop standardized processes, leveraging Epic functionality in support of effective, safe and high-quality patient care. The Senior Clinical Informatics Specialist combines their knowledge of clinical practice and workflows with their technical knowledge to lead and support ATC data initiative priorities.
Allied closely with medical, nursing and health professions professional practice leadership, the Senior Clinical Informatics Specialist liaises across clinical and technical oversight groups to understand and shape requirements; implement new system and process enhancements; support appropriate clinical practice and system adoption; and solve complex clinical system problems across the ATC. The Senior Clinical Informatics Specialist also plays an integral role in shaping and delivering initiatives aimed at enhancing the clinical end-user experience with UHN’s Health Information System (HIS) and other Digital technologies.Duties

  • Work closely with ATC leadership to identify and support ATC data initiative priorities
  • Develop a deep understanding of transplant care workflow across all ATC organ teams, including mapping of data collection timepoints & responsible roles respectively.
  • Develop standardized and streamlined data collection processes to minimize data collection effort duplication and ensure data integrity.
  • Work collaboratively with Digital resources to build/modify Epic tools and functionality as needed to support streamlined clinical workflow.
  • Work collaboratively with Data & Analytics to build/modify/maintain all ATC reporting formats as required.
  • Develop and deliver educational content for ATC staff on recommended data collection processes.
  • Regularly monitor accuracy and quality of data collection, implement corrective actions as needed including workflow enhancements, staff education etc.
  • Function as an ATC point of contact for Transplant specific reports, liaise with Data & Analytics to request ad-hoc reporting and/or new report development as needed.
  • Maintain a comprehensive list of all ATC reports and an up-to-date “data dictionary” that tracks the definition and accuracy of each variable.
  • Manage access to various ATC reports aligning with role requirements.
  • Maintain awareness of upcoming UHN wide Epic changes, assess respective impact on ATC clinical care workflows and data collection standards and develop mitigation steps as needed.

Qualifications

  • Mandatory Education: At Minimum completion of Undergraduate Degree required in Health related Discipline
  • Mandatory Certification. Clinical Professional Designation (e.g. RN, OT, PT, RT etc.)
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a health-care environment and strong understanding of the healthcare system and hospital sector preferred.
  • Strong understanding of statistics and data analytics
  • Demonstrated superior skills in data research, gathering, modeling, and business and systems analysis
  • Demonstrated decision making ability within complex and diverse issues
  • Ability to independently manage multiple projects, prioritize multiple conflicting priorities
  • Effective time management and attention to detail
  • Able to communicate in a clear, concise manner both written and verbal
  • Advanced skills using software tools such as Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint Visio, SharePoint and other tools as necessary
  • Experience with Epic applications strongly preferred
  • Experience in data analysis; biological or clinical data analysis an asset
