We are also building new and improved rapid transit, including GO Expansion, Light Rail Transit routes, and major expansions to Toronto’s subway system, to get people where they need to go, better, faster and easier. Metrolinx is an agency of the Government of Ontario.At Metrolinx, equity, diversity and inclusion are essential to living our values of serving with passion, thinking forward and playing as a team.Contract up to 18 months.Our Business Performance Office in the Operations (Rapid Transit) division is seeking a Senior Business Intelligence (BI) Performance Analyst. In this role, you will be responsible for determining KPIs for various business units, data collection, data cleansing, data integration, and preparing performance dashboards. Reporting to the Manager, Business Performance and Reporting, you will leverage business intelligence tools to measure operational and business performance and to enable data-driven decision making for the Operations (Rapid Transit) Division.What will I be doing?

  • Develop reporting dashboards and initiate proactive analysis to identify trends and data that support recommendations and innovations to improve performance across the Operations (Rapid Transit) Division and achieve strategic objectives
  • Establish and maintain Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and supporting metrics to be used across Operations (Rapid Transit) to track performance.
  • Develop reporting requirements with business unit subject matter experts and utilize a standardized approach to performance reporting.
  • Utilize engineering knowledge of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety (RAMS), and connect to the Enterprise Asset Management (EAM) system with Power BI to develop KPIs for RAMS metrics.
  • Support the use of Enterprise Asset Management Information Systems and other operational systems; develop reporting dashboards to inform performance of the Division; and enable fast, easy, meaningful operational and business insights.
  • Participate in periodic reviews of BI tools and reports with Executive Leadership team.
  • Liaise with the business unit stakeholders on design functionality and interpret requirements, design, and support reporting for all internal and external customers.
  • Liaise with business unit stakeholders to understand their needs for current and future reporting capabilities.
  • Provide business units and other internal and external customers with insights into KPIs and supporting metrics.
  • Define and implement data reporting and analysis best practices (e.g. data integrity, test design, analysis, validation, and documentation)

What Skills and Qualifications Do I Need?

  • Completion of a degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Economics, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or a combination of education, training and experience deemed to be equivalent.
  • Demonstrated experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience in transit operations, including asset management and operational performance monitoring, asset information systems, financial systems, other operational systems.
  • Engineering knowledge of Reliability, Availability, Maintainability, Safety (RAMS)
  • Familiarity with Enterprise Asset Management Systems (EAMs)
  • Expertise with Business Intelligence tools Power BI (preferred), Tableau, Qlik Sense, etc.
  • Analysis and problem-solving skills to analyze trends, performance, and develop actionable recommendations to support business units’ ability to make informed business decisions that facilitate performance improvement and achieving strategic objectives.
  • Experience with Python, R, and SQL is an asset.
  • Data collection/management techniques (ETL) and the development/interpretation of data to determine requirements, retrieve, analyze and deliver insights and recommendations.
  • Data quality assurance processes, methodology and tools, quality assurance testing and implementation methods and practices to ensure the integrity of data.
  • Creativity to determine the format of dashboards and to translate a range of diverse data/information into actionable results that support internal and external requirements.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills to draft reports, analyze information and present information to various audiences.
  • Strong presentation skills to communicate effectively with stakeholders across various business units.
