Our philosophy is based on the CIBC values of Trust, Teamwork, and Accountability and we achieve results for our clients through an in-depth disciplined investing approach based on rigor and research.The Institutional Asset Management team works closely with institutional investors in building investment solutions to help clients achieve their goals and objectives.As an Analyst, Institutional Client Experience, you will serve as a member of our dynamic and high-performing team working in collaboration with the Asset Management teams in the delivery of compliance projects for institutional business. You’ll be responsible for responding to queries and implementing recommended changes stemming from, Business Controls and Compliance sustainability reviews related to client investment policies for institutional investment accounts sizing from $50M to $10B. You’ll also work with senior members in the Institutional Client Experience team to ensure our strategy profiles and business development materials are compliant with regulatory requirements. You’ll respond to client and consultant informational inquires that helps to deepen client relationships and build upon CIBC AM’s reputation as a trusted advisor. In addition, you’ll partner with external business units to develop regulatory, organizational, operational and portfolio management expertise working alongside with partners across CIBC in the delivery of our client solutions.At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. Details on your work arrangement (proportion of on-site and remote work) will be discussed at the time of your interview.How you’ll succeedCompliance project – you will work with institutional teams on the accurate and timely implementation of institutional client investment policies into internal systems. You’ll work with institutional teams on the marketing material review process by establishing proper policies, actively implement the policy with stakeholders to ensure all marketing materials are compliant, and continuously monitor and improve the policy to adapt to changes in regulatory requirements and client needs.Asset class, institutional investment management and compliance knowledge – Work with senior portfolio managers, client relationship managers, and our institutional clients to examine, review, confirm and input these investment constraints in CIBC systems. The role is accountable for working on the tasks independently with senior member’s supervisory. The range of a single account size is $50 million – $10 billion.Project management and problem solving skills – Collaborate with various stakeholders from internal and external teams to implement compliance projects. The role will review/input/edit investment policies to ensure compliance of client’s investment portfolios. You will interpret complex investment policies and constraints (such as investment terminologies, key risk ratio calculation methodology, monitoring frequency/threshold, trading & operation considerations, etc.) and translate them into accurate indicators (or sometimes rewrite the investment policy language to make it concise for system input).Investment Management Proposals – Under the supervision of Senior Associate, Institutional Client Solutions, contribute to the client solutioning process in ensuring customized Request for Proposals (RFPs), Request for Information (RFIs), and Due Diligence Questionnaires (DDQs) are compliant with regulatory requirements.Database Content Maintenance – Under the supervision of a Senior Associate, Institutional Client Solutions, ensure investment strategy content is compliant across the CIBC AM internal databases (e.g., Qvidian) and global investment management databases (e.g, eVestement).Responsible for completing client deliverables – Under the supervision of Senior Associate, Institutional Client Relations, you’re responsible for the completion of client deliverables (with a focus on client compliance certificate) efficiently and working to ensure service standards, policies and procedures are consistently and effectively applied. These deliverables include: Client onboarding and new account opening, offboarding and account closing, client and account maintenance, monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc client reporting and presentations, submission of trade instructions for processing, compliance and due diligence questionnaires from clients, Ad-hoc client support and support in preparation of training materials.Continuous Improvement Spirit – Work in collaboration with institutional team on ad-hoc continuous improvement projects, including operational and technological business improvement initiatives to achieve efficiencies and improve the overall client experience.Who you areYou are client focused. You are driven by promoting the client experience in all that you do.You can demonstrate a good knowledge of traditional and alternative investment solutions . You have at least 2-3 years of investment industry experience, with exposure to most asset classes and different types of institutional clients.You are a strong communicator. You possess strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to develop succinct communications to connect with a wide variety of institutional clients. In addition to having strong communication skills in English, fluency in French is an asset.You are a collaborator. You have a collaborative spirit and a proven ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with key client and internal stakeholders.You are an organized multi-tasker. The role is dynamic and high-paced and requires the ability to prioritize and manage a wide range of responsibilities while, at the same time, developing an understanding of our clients and strategies.You have strong technical skills. You have extensive technical skills using applications including MS Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Bloomberg. Experience using the global databases (e.g., eVestment) is an asset.You’re committed to knowledge. Your enrollment in the CFA or CIM designations is preferred.
