We support this vision through the development of a unique and diverse blend of accessible low-cost and no-cost programs and services, created in direct response to community needs; primarily serving children, youth, families, and seniors.Our dedicated and welcoming staff team, along with our many active volunteers, including our Board of Directors, are all committed to making Parkgate Society a welcoming and inclusive community services organization.Opportunity:School Age Care Supervisor:Working in collaboration with our Parkgate School Age Care Supervisor and reporting to the School Age Care Manager, this role plans and leads an inclusive before and after School Age Care (ages 5-12) program. The Supervisor will create a positive and engaging community culture that values professional standards and practices while providing the highest quality child care services.This role is responsible for overseeing the delivery of exceptional and professionally run child care programs, ensuring smooth daily operations, and most importantly, the well-being of all children by maintaining a safe, happy, and healthy environment.This position is also accountable for the care of the children, supervision of the staff, and management of the center’s daily operations and maintenance.Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Staff hiring, scheduling, training, and development.
  • Maintaining positive and professional relationships with employees, families, external consultants, other service providers e.g. Supported Child Development or building services contractors, and with all other staff in the organization.
  • Coordinating, monitoring, and role-modeling the provision of a nurturing, inclusive, and developmentally appropriate childcare program to meet the needs of school-aged children in a safe and healthy group setting.
  • Planning and implementing activities and experiences for the individual and group needs of all children within a consistent child-centered program environment.
  • Following policies and procedures of Parkgate Society and the Child Care department.
  • Maintaining and completing administrative tasks in an accurate manner and within prescribed timelines, including staff scheduling, incident reports, file management, inventory, checking building premises & coordinating maintenance as needed, ordering supplies, and budget management.
  • Following licensing regulations and Parkgate Society’s policies and procedures; this position will be responsible for ensuring that CCFL licensing standards are always met.
  • Collaborating & working closely with the other School Age Care Supervisor to program & deliver engaging Pro-D and seasonal camps during the school year.

Summer Camp Coordinator:The Summer Camp Coordinator role has full responsibility for the development, delivery, oversight, and management of the Summer Day Camp Programs each summer, in the months of July and August.This includes planning and directing all aspects of our summer programming, staff hiring, scheduling, training, and development, as well as, the key responsibilities as detailed for the School Age Care Supervisor role as it relates to this seasonal role.Qualifications:

  • Responsible Adult training & certification.
  • Current First Aid certification (minimum eight hours) is mandatory; preference may be given to those with an additional & higher level of training in child development or related field.
  • Minimum five (5) years of experience in a similar or related environment or role, including at least one year in a supervisory position.
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience supporting children with specific inclusion needs.
  • Strong abilities and experience in team leadership and staff supervision.
  • Proven abilities to work effectively with diverse populations.
  • Excellent communication, writing, planning, problem-solving, and computer skills.
  • Strong ability to make effective decisions independently when needed.
  • The ability to manage stressful situations with diplomacy and grace.
  • A good knowledge of available community resources.
  • Class 4 driver’s license or willingness to obtain one is an asset.

  • We are located in beautiful North Vancouver.
  • This is a full-time permanent supervisory position, based on 7 hours per day / 35 hours per week; flexibility with evenings and some weekends will be required.
  • Full employee benefits coverage.
  • Three weeks or 15 days vacation per annum.
  • $500 professional development allowance per annum.
  • Salary Range: $23.00 – $26.00 per hour (commensurate with qualifications & experience).
  • First Aid certification and Responsible Adult course completion is required.
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide a current and clear Criminal Records Check / Vulnerable Sector Search.
