Job Description: We are looking for a person with excellent organizational and communication skills who is ready to drive the sale of our books in the US market and in the area of special and bulk sales in the US and Canada. The ideal candidate will have a sales-based skill set and will bring a knowledge of the US market as well as experience selling and interacting with various accounts.We are looking for a person with excellent organizational and communication skills who is ready to drive the sale of our books in the US market and in the area of special and bulk sales in the US and Canada. The ideal candidate will have a sales-based skill set and will bring a knowledge of the US market as well as experience selling and interacting with various accounts.The Sales Manager will manage the relationship with, and ensure timely support for, our US sales and distribution partner, Publishers Group West (PGW)/Ingram. In collaboration with PGW and directly via meetings at key trade shows and follow-up, the Sales Manager will nurture relationships with key US accounts, particularly wholesaler accounts. The Sales Manager will also explore and take the lead on special and bulk sales opportunities in both the US and Canada to expand this market for Anansi and Groundwood.The Sales Manager will report to the Sales Director and work closely with the Sales Assistant and be in communication with the Marketing and Publicity teams as well as the two Publishers and the President.
- US sales tracking and watching for gaps and changes in account behaviour
- Create and present strategies to increase our sales
- Provide regular in-house reporting on sales, US inventory, and the state of the US market
- Coordinate US sales presentations and seasonal presales/marketing calls
- Communicate important information (publicity updates, title updates, monthly hotlists, reprint dates) to US reps
- Research and execute special-sales and direct-sales opportunities, including coordinating invoicing and drop-shipments
- Optimize US and special sales opportunities with custom catalogues and targeted mailings
- Forge relationships with US wholesaler accounts
- Attend and contribute to weekly marketing meetings
- US conference/trade show attendance and follow-up (e.g., EMBA, ALA, WI, CI)
