The information collected will be used solely to carry out our obligations under the federal Employment Equity Act.Our Calgary Head Office location is seeking an experienced Safety Advisor to support our diverse operations. This is a full time, Monday to Friday, in office position, with frequent travel required throughout Alberta, BC, and Saskatchewan.Description:Reporting to the Corporate Safety Manager and working closely with operational leadership, the Safety Advisor will be responsible for the successful implementation, administration and reporting of EFCG safety programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with Safety Management System (SMS), policies, and standards. This position is located on site and is based out of our Calgary Head office location; however, it is required to support and work at any EFC Group site as required.Responsibilities:

  • Promote, implement, and maintain Health, Safety, and Environment projects and initiatives.
  • Comply with and participate in the Company’s Health & Safety and Quality programs and initiatives.
  • Monitor compliance with safety regulations and standards
  • Assist in the development and maintenance of EFCG’s Safety Management System
  • Work with our Operations department to promote a proactive safety culture in terms of compliance.
  • Conduct regular inspections of the various operations throughout the EFC Group of Companies to reduce or eliminate substandard acts or conditions, focusing on preventative measures in the workplace.
  • Encourage and promote positive and effective safety and quality culture through communications initiatives and coaching.
  • Follow up with Operations department about health and safety initiatives, records, and incident findings.
  • Maintain Safety Management System records and reports.
  • Assisting in the management of EFCG online safety management system.
  • Respond to incidents, near misses, and hazard ID reports appropriately, as required, including communicating, training, coaching, and following up with managers, supervisors, and employees.
  • Work closely with Human Resources and operational leaders to manage and reduce workplace injury/disability claims.
  • Friendly, customer service-oriented individual.
  • Perform any other duties as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Relevant experience in Health and Safety management.
  • Occupational Health and Safety Certificate or equivalent is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including public speaking and presentation
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities at the same time while meeting deadlines
  • Experience in the aviation industry with direct knowledge of operations in an airport facility with understanding of ramp, fuelling ground operations, airport and aerodrome operations is preferred.
  • Willingness to work on the ground amongst the team, implementing safety systems and identifying safety concerns
  • A valid class 5 driver’s license (No Graduated Driver’s License or restrictions permitted) and clean Driver’s Abstract are required as a condition of employment.
  • Able to obtain a RAIC security clearance.
  • The ability to be on call is required.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office with a strong understanding of PowerPoint and Excel
  • Strong organizational and administration skills

  • Outgoing and approachable personality
  • A strong work ethic and positive team attitude.
  • Able to work collaboratively as a productive member of the EFC Team.

Working Conditions:

  • Dynamic working environment that may require frequent travels (10-25%) for inspections, training.
  • Extended periods indoors in an office setting.
  • Able to work as part of cross-functional teams to achieve a strong safety culture.
  • Evenings and weekends may be required based on operational requirements.
