Title of the Job: Risk and Insurance Analyst

Location: Toronto, ON

Job Description: What You’ll DoReporting to the Manager, Risk & Insurance, the candidate will support the Insurance team and its functions within the Enterprise Risk Management Department, with an objective to help identify, control and minimize the overall cost of risk to the Corporation. The ideal candidate will be well-organized, a self-starter and able to demonstrate exceptional customer service skills.Operational:Develop/administer insurance and risk management programs as set out by senior managementConduct statistical analysis of loss information and identify trends for loss prevention with the objective of reducing operational and reputational risk across the CorporationMaintain strong relationships and open communication with each business unit to promote awareness of risk management practices and proceduresBuild, deliver, and support the team in the facilitation of risk management training and presentationsProvide ad hoc reporting and risk analysis to identify and quantify risks across the Corporation and help facilitate risk mitigation decisions made by senior management, the Board of Directors, Audit Committee, Legal, and Compliance teamsParticipate in Product Compliance Committee meetings to help facilitate key decisions with respect to product safety, quality and liabilityReview, request and maintain certificates of insurance to ensure compliance within contractual requirementsManage insurance policy database while analyzing coverage and policy language for compliance with annual renewal termsClaims:Support the daily claims intake process with internal and external partners while making key decisions on reporting and handling strategiesManage litigation database and assist in the litigation process by working with internal stakeholders in support of defence counsel, requiring direct interface with insurance adjusters and legal counselMonitor and evaluate progress of insurance claims to identify, address, and resolve outstanding issuesCommunicate directly with Merchandise teams to procure information as it relates to the transfer of product liability claimsAssist with subrogation efforts by working with internal stakeholders in obtaining contracts and repair invoicesWork in conjunction with internal stakeholders to obtain settlement approval for larger claimsSupport monthly reconciliation of payments, adjusting fees and other expenses associated with property, auto, and liability claimsMonitor trust account balances to ensure sufficient fundingSupport product retrieval and investigation process to ensure evidence is preserved, which may require some local travel to offsite storage locationsAssist in conducting quarterly key performance indicators (KPI) review of third-party adjusters (TPA)Renewal:Coordinate and gather relevant information in support of annual insurance policy renewalsMaintain listing of corporate fleet and coordinate annual distribution of automobile insurance slipsPlan and participate in annual site visits in support of the property insurance renewal and gather information requested by insurers and risk control consultantsWhat You BringUniversity degree or College diploma in business or a related disciplineCanadian Risk Management (CRM), Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP), or progressing towards the completion of one or both designations would be considered an assetMinimum 3 years of work experience in Risk Management, Insurance, or Claims related positionsStrong claims background (particularly commercial auto and property) would be considered an assetExcellent communication and presentation skillsDetail oriented and able to meet work deadlinesAdvanced working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint and Access)Bilingualism (English/French) would be considered an assetHybridWe value flexibility.
