The Princess Margaret Cancer Centre is seeking a temporary full-time Research Technician II. Working under the direction of senior staff, the successful applicant will utilize standardized laboratory techniques and procedures in genomics and molecular biology experiments on patients samples used for our studies. Our Lab studies on Central Nervous System (CNS) tumors including meningioma, glioblastoma and neurofibroma, schwannoma and more. we use a variety of molecular profiling techniques and a multi-omics approach to investigate our CNS tumors of interest.DutiesWorking under the direction of senior staff, the successful applicant:

• Perform molecular biology experiments such as nucleic acid extraction from liquid biopsy, frozen and /or Formalin-Fixed Paraffin-Embedded (FFPE) tissue specimens.
• Prepare genomic and protein materials for genomic, epigenetic and proteomic studies using commercially available kits and published protocols.
• Handle inventory management tasks, including stocking necessary reagents and materials.
• Support lab organization by maintaining equipment and supplies and ensuring a clean and safe working environment.

Qualifications

• At minimum, BSc in genomics, molecular biology, immunology or related discipline is required
• At minimum, 3 years of related experience
• A willingness to learn new techniques and technologies is required.
• Demonstrated excellent organizational and time management skills are required.
• Ability to work independently and accurately under deadlines is required.
• Meticulous and detail-oriented lab performance is required.
• Proficient in handling of single and multichannel pipettes for standard molecular biology and genomic laboratory techniques such as PCR, quantitative PCR, and nucleic acid and protein preparation and quantification
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills in a team environment is required.
