Title of the Job: Research Manager – Digital Innovation Hub

Location: Toronto, ON

Job Description: The newly announced CAMH Digital Innovation Hub – a hub which aims to support the design and development of evidence based digital solutions to prevent and treat mental illness, faster and with a global impact, – is seeking a full-time, contract (12 months) Research Manager. Reporting to the Scientific Director and the Director, People, space and Integrity, the Research Manager will be responsible for supporting the development and implementation of the Digital Innovation Hub in addition to supporting the Digital Innovation Hub’s program of research.Position Description:The Research Manager, will work closely with the Scientific Director in addition to CAMH’s Research Operations, Services and Support, Education and IMG teams to build the Digital Innovation Hub. In this role, the Research Manager will support the establishment of the Digital Innovation Hub, manage the Hub’s program of research, and support day-to-day operations of the hub. Specifically, the Research Manager will:

  • Collaborate with and engage internal and external partners, academic researchers, health system organizations, community groups, policy decision makers, people with lived experience, and private sector/industry professionals.
  • Lead and coordinate digital mental health projects and research, focused on effective implementation and evaluation of digital health tools into clinical care settings.
  • Engage in knowledge mobilization activities (i.e., presentations, webinars, etc.) and develop knowledge translation outputs (publications, reports, briefing notes, etc.).
  • Support the Scientific Director in establishing internal and external advisory committees and collaborations.
  • Support the Scientific Director in writing and applying for new grants and adhering to funder requirements and deadlines.
  • Manage and oversee day-to-day operations and activities of the Hub, including supporting hub staff, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Ensure compliance of research personnel with CAMH institutional and research policies, procedures, and regulations.
  • Oversee all human resources inquiries, including onboarding, training, and recruitment of staff.
  • Work with various departments at CAMH to support the development and implementation of digital health technologies and programs, including: Privacy, Legal, Ethics, Professional Practice and Information/Project Management.
  • Track key performance indicators and promote the accomplishments of the Digital Innovation Hub through internal communications, publications, presentations, and media engagement.

As a key member of the team, the successful incumbent will be expected to work collaboratively on projects with cross-functional teams, both internally and externally. The incumbent will champion and lead initiatives that support a workplace that embraces diversity, encourages teamwork, and complies with all applicable policies, procedures, and legislation.

  • Possess, at a minimum, a master’s degree in a digital health or health administration related field (i.e., health informatics)
  • At least four (4) years of experience supporting digital mental health and implementation science research with demonstrated leadership experience and capabilities.
  • Experience leading, managing, and supporting an interdisciplinary team of scientists, researchers, and trainees
  • Demonstrated experience collaborating with interprofessional and transdisciplinary knowledge users, researchers, industry partners and clinicians at the local, national, and international scale
  • Previous experience developing, applying for, and successfully obtaining tri-council research funding and government agency/industry funding
  • Experience in leading competing and complex projects/studies to successful completion
  • Demonstrated ability to manage budgetary and financial data (e.g., budget forecasting, reading financial reports and preparing budgets)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and advocacy skills required, with the ability to tailor communications materials to different/diverse audiences
  • Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in research
  • Strong understanding of the Canadian healthcare system, and the Canadian digital health landscape
