Title of the Job: Research Analyst – Translational Addiction Research Laboratory

Location: Toronto, ON

Job Description: The Translational Addiction Research Laboratory (TARL) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is seeking two (2) full-time, contract (1 year) Research Analysts to assist with a Health Canada regulated human laboratory experiment involving cannabis edibles and driving simulator research. Reporting to the study lead and Laboratory Head, your responsibilities will include recruitment, screening, consenting and follow-up of study participants, data collection and database maintenance, and preparation and maintenance of participant research records. Competency in following best practices and Standard Operating Procedures and policies will be expected. You may also be responsible for assisting with ethics board and/or other regulatory submissions data analysis and preparation of presentations and manuscripts. You will provide regular updates to the PI/Lab Head (and/or project coordinator) as well as provide support to the research team in other research-related duties. This position will involve interactions with scientists and stakeholders with various research backgrounds and require a strong interest in translational science. You will support a workplace that embraces diversity and encourages teamwork. The position will require a health-related research background and the ideal candidate will be capable of conducting daily tasks with minimal supervision. This position is located at 100 Stokes Street and 33 Ursula Franklin Street. You may be required to travel between sites at times.The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s Degree in Neuroscience, Psychology, or a related field with a combination of one (1) or more years of relevant research experience. Previous experience in conducting human research (e.g., clinical trials, human laboratory experiments) is required. Previous experience working with human participants including recruitment and experience administering standardized clinical interviews for DSM-IV or 5 (SCID-IV or -5) and other clinical assessment scales is required. Previous experience with cannabis and/or driving simulation research is considered an asset. Experience assisting with REB submissions and Clinical Trials Application (CTA) preparation (or similar regulatory submissions) is an asset. Previous experience working with clients in the mental health and/or substance use health field is an asset. This position requires very strong interpersonal skills, combined with well-developed critical thinking abilities, flexibility, and initiative. Candidates require the ability to explain complex issues in plain language both verbally and in writing. Candidates will possess the ability for self-directed learning/working, as well as collaboration and teamwork, along with interest in training other members of the team.
