Occasional overtime on evenings and weekends may be required.Reports To: Maintenance SupervisorCompensation: $64.28 + benefitsThe CAD hourly rate for this position is $64.28 + benefits. Hourly rates are determined by role, level, and location. The hourly rate displayed on each job posting reflects the starting rate for new hires for the position. Rates may also be determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific rate factors for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process, as some facilities are subject to Collective Bargaining Agreements. Please note that the compensation details listed in the US roles postings reflect the hourly rate only, and do not include benefits, pension contributions or additional incentives such as overtime and shift premiums.About This Position and About YouReporting to the supervisor, the refrigeration mechanic will perform and support various activities including, but not limited to, preventative, predictive, and corrective maintenance, as per work orders and/or supervisor’s instructions, in a safe and efficient manner. You will be part of a team of Electricians, Instrumentation Mechanics, Millwrights, Pipefitters, and control specialists; we have a great team and are excited for you to join us.QualificationKnowledgeMust possess Inter-provincial Journeyman Refrigeration Certification (red seal).Applicants with dual tickets such as refrigeration mechanic and millwrighting, pipefitting, steam ticket, etc., certifications are preferred.5+ years’ experience in a journeyman maintenance role, industrial environment experience is preferred.Competencies
- Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision to identify and solve complex problems.
- Knowledge and experience with the installation and maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of various mechanical systems, specifically industrial refrigeration units is a must.
- Computer literacy with the ability to work with MS Office applications.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs without assistance.
- For purposes of performing work: must be able to sit, stand, walk, crouch, squat, climb ladders, etc. without any difficulties.
- Must pass company medical and background checks.
ResponsibilitiesInspect, test, install, decommission, troubleshoot, repair, and replace, work on various equipment including but not limited to liquefiers (industrial refrigeration units), piping, valves, pumps, compressors, conveyors, liquefiers, power transmission systems, and other process related assets, etc.Work with other trades as neededMaintain compliance with applicable regulatory requirements, company policies, safety and environmental standards, good housekeeping, and Responsible Care practices.Participate in risk assessments, Root Cause Failure Analysis and maintenance optimization or improvement initiatives.Identify, install, develop, and implement upgrades on existing equipment.Be available to work some overtime and weekends as required.Maintain familiarity, and comply with all Chemtrade corporate and site Environmental, Safety & Health (ES&H) policies and procedures.Participate in job safety analysis activities, housekeeping tours, safety programs and initiatives, such as Behavior-Based Observations, company surveys, etc.Any other duties as required by the supervisor.Work Conditions
- This is an electrochemical, industrial, process type plant. Much of the work is outdoors and frequent walking, bending, crouching, squatting, climbing ladders, etc. may be required.
- The ability to complete assigned safety training and follow Chemtrade’ s safe work policies and practices are conditions of employment.
