Job Description: SalaryThe salary range for this position is CAD $52.81/Hr. – CAD $65.96/Hr.SummaryThis position provides the opportunity to be part of a center widely recognized as being a leader in the understanding and treatment of heart disease, as well as a major teaching facility for cardiac professionals. Alongside a team of physicians, nurses, and social workers with a wealth of clinical expertise, you would provide and coordinate the development, management and provision of psychology services to patients 18 years and older with congenital heart disease, including individuals who are newly diagnosed with congenital heart disease and those transitioning from pediatric programs.Your duties will include:

  • Responsible for developing, managing, and providing psychology services within the Heart Centre Ambulatory Programs.
  • Provides individual and group therapy to clients and their families.
  • Acts as a clinical member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Designs and participates in research activities related to the psychological aspects of heart disease.
  • Participates in program planning and evaluation, care team meetings, and rounds.

What You BringEducation:

  • Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from an accredited University, plus one year supervised internship.
  • Two (2) years recent related experience in a medical setting delivering a broad range of psychological services, including basic neuro-cognitive assessments as a member of a collaborative interdisciplinary team.
  • Requires a research background and ability to design and implement research projects.
  • Current full registration as a Psychologist with the College of Health and Care Professionals of BC (CHCPBC) or eligible for registration within one year of employment.

Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of therapeutic, diagnostic, and consultation techniques.
  • Knowledge of psychology assessment and treatment methods and tools.
  • Knowledge of evidence-based psychological practice.
  • Ability to function as a team member, leader, and facilitator.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, clients, and their families, both one-on-one and in groups.
  • Ability to teach and provide clinical supervision.
  • Ability to establish workload priorities in collaboration with others.

Your Day to Day:

  • Coordinates the development, management, and provision of psychology services within the Heart Centre Ambulatory Programs.
  • Participates in short and long-term planning for the Heart Centre Ambulatory Programs, evaluating treatment effectiveness, identifying opportunities for change, and formulating quality improvement recommendations.
  • Completes psychological assessments of referred clients, including reviewing client history, gathering information, conducting interviews and testing, and developing treatment recommendations based on evidence-based practice.
  • Assesses psychological factors affecting patient recovery and outcomes, participating in rounds, case conferences, and care team meetings.
  • Provides individual and group psychotherapy within the Heart Centre Ambulatory Programs, developing and implementing group modules.
  • Attends clinical/case conferences, providing input from a psychology perspective on care issues and program effectiveness.
  • Interprets psychological issues and interventions for interdisciplinary team members through consultation and case discussion.
  • Provides formal and informal consultation to staff/community psychologists, multidisciplinary team members, and students.
  • Provides clinical teaching and supervision to psychology students and other applicable students.
