Location: London, ON – Toronto, ON

Job Description: Permanent Full TimeAs a member of the Employee Benefits team, the Program Manager, Employee Benefits & Savings Plans supports the development & management of Canada Life’s Employee Benefits Plan and provides backup support to for our Employee Savings plans. Key responsibilities include both leading and supporting the implementation of our benefits & saving strategy, plan design changes, plan governance, financial management and employee communication and education.The preferred working location for this role is our Winnipeg head office.What you will do:

  • Provide subject matter expertise by providing technical advice, support and guidance to internal partners regarding benefits and savings programs (e.g. HR Business Partners, HR Support Center, etc.)
  • Research and recommend solutions for escalations and exceptions of complex employee and advisor issues
  • Compile, analyze and monitor a variety of program data
  • Assess and maintain processes and controls to manage program risk, ensuring that respective plans meet regulatory and internal controls requirements.
  • Assess legislative impacts, environmental and industry trends, and the competitive positioning of the plans within the portfolio
  • Develop recommendations, business cases and secure approval for changes to benefits & savings programs and policies
  • Improve employee understanding of programs by developing appropriate communication strategies and messaging
  • Support vendor relationships and performance through service level agreements
  • Support the implementation of the benefits strategy and lead program initiatives
  • Lead annual cycle activities, including the benefits renewals, and employee information sessions
  • Represent the team on assigned projects and working groups
  • Financial management of respective plans to ensure alignment with budget and cost sharing philosophies

What you will bring:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience with program management, experience designing and implementing HR benefits and savings programs
  • Experience working on a national and/or multi-provincial plan is a strong asset.
  • Education:
  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources or Business/Commerce or related discipline.
  • Group Benefits Associate (GBA), Retirement Plan Associate (RPA) or Certified Employee Benefit Specialist (CEBS) designation is an asset.
  • Skills:
  • Trusted advisor with the ability to build strong partnerships.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts.
  • Innovative thinker with a track record of identifying create solutions and driving successful implementation.
  • Results-oriented, demonstrating the ability to execute on strategic plans and deliver measurable outcomes.
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Strategic partner, aligning HR programs with broader business goals.
  • Strong working knowledge of Excel, Word and PowerPoint required for day-to-day work.
  • Bilingualism in both English and French is an asset to communicate to clients in both languages.

The base salary for this position is between $61,900- $103,000 annually. This represents base salary only and does not represent other variable compensation components of our total compensation ( i.e. annual bonus, commission etc).
