We can consider your application only if you meet all the criteria.iClassifier, in collaboration with the Optical Diagnostics Group (ODG) at the University of Alberta and MITACS Canada, is looking for a postdoctoral fellow to join our R&D team in the area of electronics and signal processing. The successful candidate is expected to start ASAP and will conduct industry-related research in smart agricultural product system design and development. The candidate should have experience in electronic circuit design, data transfer from devices to computer systems, and signal processing. Experience with Embedded system design, image processing and working with Linux servers would be an asset.Candidate Profile:The position requires a self-starting researcher with a proven record of accomplishments in the required fields. The candidate must demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills and be able to work and lead in both a team-oriented environment or as an individual.Skills and Requirements:

  • PhD degree in Electrical & Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Signal Processing, or related disciplines.
  • Expertise in electronic circuit design and data acquisition systems.
  • Experience in data transfer protocols, such as UART, SPI, I2C, or Ethernet.
  • Proficiency in signal processing techniques for noise reduction, filtering, and analysis.
  • Programming experience in Python for signal analysis and data visualization.
  • Understanding of digital and analog electronics and sensor integration.
  • A teamwork mindset is essential.
  • Working with Git (version control)

Assets to have:Prior experience in:

  • Programming experience in MATLAB
  • Working with microcontrollers and embedded systems.
  • Developing communication protocols for sensor networks.
  • Data processing for sensor-based applications.
  • Familiarity with Linux-based systems and server management.
  • Experience in image or video processing would be an asset.

Responsibilities:Work with other engineers on high-impact projects and innovate new solutions to problems in the fields of smart agriculture.

  • Develop new data acquisition and signal processing pipelines.
  • Design custom algorithms for signal analysis and processing.
  • Set up and maintain data transfer systems between electronic devices and computers.
  • Communicate effectively and professionally.
  • Write progress reports and create technical documentation.
  • After-hours work and travelling may be required.

Eligibility:The applicant should be within 4 years of their PhD graduation date and must be legally entitled to work in Canada according to the relevant provincial and Federal legislation and regulations.Other Notes:This position is full-time and requires a minimum commitment of 40 hours per week.The term of employment is 1 year, with the possibility of a 1-year extension and full-time employment (depending on performance).The successful candidate must be present in Edmonton, AB, on the starting date.Pay: $60k annually ($45-50k stipend + $10-15k research expenses).Benefits: This position offers a benefits package found at .How to Apply:To apply, candidates must submit their application with the following documents:
