Their technology is particularly aimed at reducing CO2 emissions in long-haul trucking and off-road applications, while leveraging existing engine architectures, making it a practical and scalable solution for decarbonizing the transportation sector.ABOUT THE ROLE
The Payroll & HR Specialist handles the daily payroll and benefits operations for North America and oversees HRIS and data management across the organization. This role ensures timely and accurate payroll processing, adhering to regulatory requirements. As the primary contact and expert on payroll processes, you will manage inquiries and administer systems, particularly Dayforce, covering both payroll and HR modules. Additionally, the role manages benefits and HR data reporting.The ideal candidate should possess strong technical expertise in payroll and HR systems and be ready to refine processes, procedures, and implement improvements as the organization grows.RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Process payroll for around 150 salaried employees, ensuring accurate and timely payments across Canadian regions, mainly in BC, using Dayforce.
  • Manage external payroll vendors for international payroll operations in countries like Italy and China.
  • Oversee employee leave management, including handling disability claims, workers’ compensation, and statutory leaves.
  • Collaborate with the Director of HR to manage benefit programs, including health and pension plans, and assist with the annual review of benefit providers.
  • Maintain relationships with external consultants and tax experts for benefits and payroll.
  • Handle employee lifecycle processes, including new hires, offboarding, pay changes, and accruals.
  • Audit HR data and workflows, suggesting and implementing process and system improvements for better efficiency and compliance (e.g., GDPR, security).
  • Lead employee onboarding and offboarding experiences, including orientations.
  • Collaborate with HR business partners and recruitment teams to manage data processing and reporting needs.
  • Provide employee support for benefits, health, and wellness program inquiries.
  • Evaluate and implement tools or technology to enhance HR function efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Assist with other HR projects, initiatives, and services as required.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 5+ years of progressive experience in Canadian payroll with strong knowledge of payroll and benefits legislation.
  • Degree/Diploma in Business, Accounting, HR, or a related field, ideally with a PCP designation.
  • Strong business acumen, aligning HR strategies with business goals.
  • Experience in payroll and benefits system management, with preference for experience in Ceridian/Dayforce.
  • Strong research skills to stay updated on best practices, industry trends, and legislation.
  • Proficient in IT with strong database and software skills; advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables) preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and problem-solving skills.
