Job Description: If you consider yourself a vibrant, caring and nurturing individual who has a knack for caring for young children, then this opportunity may be just for you. I am in need of a nanny to mindfully look after my 18-month old son on a part-time basis. I need someone who will devote their attention to my child when they are with him. On a typical day, you would engage in various stimulating activities with my son such as listening to and making music, reading books, chatting, singing, playing, and spending time outside! We prefer to keep our home screen-free during the day and minimize the use of phones when spending quality time with our little one. This part-time role will require assistance on Mondays, Wednesdays, and alternating Fridays. Preferred working hours would be 8:30am-3:30pm; however, hours can be somewhat flexible and negotiable to potentially accommodate a post-secondary student schedule and would entail a maximum of 14-21 hours per week in total. Our current nanny is wonderful and absolutely adores our son (the feeling is mutual). Unfortunately, due to some unforseen circumstances in her life she is unable to continue working with us. Our ideal start date for a new nanny is October 21, but we are willing to wait for the right person. We do ask that you have a valid driver’s license for any potential emergencies, although driving would not be part of your day-to-day responsibilities. I also would like you to have current knowledge of infant CPR. Aside from keeping the spaces you use with our son tidy, you will not be asked to clean or care for the home. Any food our son needs to eat will be prepared ahead of time, so you will also not be required to cook. You will need to be comfortable with animals as we are a full house with 2 dogs and 2 cats! We are looking for someone who is willing to clean kitty litter as this is a pet care task we need support with at this time. I am a psychologist and my husband is a brain injury researcher and medical student at the University of Calgary. As lifelong learners and long-time students ourselves, we will be giving preference to university students who apply (though this is not a prerequisite for the position).
