Please read below for additional details and let us know if you have the skills and experience we are looking for by submitting your application.About the Position:Reporting to the Manager, Digital Strategy, the Officer, Digital Communications will be responsible for the day-to-day administration and health of the BC SPCA’s main websites, Communications department email newsletters, digital implementation of communications campaigns and strategic web reporting. The Officer will also help maintain a consistent brand and style across digital properties.The Officer will support program staff in developing, editing and approving web content in accordance with internal and industry best practices. The Officer will work in collaboration with the Communications team, Digital Giving team and other BC SPCA departments to support larger strategic directives and take an active role in identifying areas of improvement for digital properties and communications.Some specific duties:
- Implements and oversees the day-to-day administration of spca.bc.ca, adopt.bc.ca and other online activities using WordPress, Mailchimp, Google Analytics, Fundraise Up and other digital applications.
- Provides support for ongoing integration of the Society’s website properties through research and management of development projects with oversight of the Manager of Digital Strategy and in consultation with other departments as appropriate.
- Responsible for the regular maintenance of the main BC SPCA website and adoption site, such as fixing broken links, revisions and content approval and website edits. Supporting the Manager, Digital Strategy on larger projects alongside the web development agency, to ensure digital properties are performing optimally.
- Supports web/email execution of communications campaigns and projects that promote the BC SPCA’s mission and drive awareness of the BC SPCA’s work in various fields such as advocacy, fundraising and community support, in line with the BC SPCA’s Strategic Plan and long-term outlook.
- Works in collaboration with various BC SPCA departments on a regular basis to ensure that all web properties are optimized for their respective area and deliver a positive user experience. Provides technical support to staff for adding/editing content on the website including documentation and training for new staff.
- Carries out approved testing and provides strategic web, content and email reporting monthly and as needed per campaign, utilizing platform reporting tools and Google Analytics 4.
- Maintains and audits the BC SPCA web Search engine optimization in collaboration with other team members and outside contractors as needed.
- Oversees the development and execution of the Anim@ls newsletter, collaborating with the Communications Officer and team to strategize content, optimize email performance, and implement best practices for continuous improvement.
- Ensures that a consistent tone and style is maintained for digital properties and print materials, in compliance with the BC SPCA Style Guide. Ensures that tone and style reflects the BC SPCA’s expectations related to equity, diversity, inclusion and reconciliation.
- Helps manage and oversee the Society’s bank of visual images.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications you need to have:
- University degree plus 3-5 years’ related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience acceptable to the employer. Related experience includes but is not limited to:
- Extensive use of WordPress, with a solid understanding of HTML and CSS to effectively manage and customize website content;
- Collaborating with web developers to project manage various web initiatives, proactively flag and resolve issues, and maintain positive working relationships throughout project lifecycles;
- Using a mass marketing and automation email platform (preferably Mailchimp) to execute email marketing campaigns, and A/B testing to optimize performance and assess and improve engagement metrics;
- Using Google Analytics 4, with strong analytical skills for working with data segments and generating insightful reports;
- Configuring event tracking, setting up conversion goals, and utilizing various GA4 advanced features; and
- Graphic editing using Canva. Photoshop and Illustrator experience is a plus.
- Strong understanding of website optimization and UX best practices with experience supporting the administration of a website that offers many points of user interaction.
- Strong project and time management skills, shown through managing multiple tasks and projects simultaneously while meeting deadlines.
- Proactive and self-motivated, open to feedback and guidance to enhance performance.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, with the ability to teach, motivate, and engage non-technical users both internally and externally.
- Working knowledge of concepts of equity, diversity, inclusion and reconciliation; able to relate respectfully to a diverse audience.
- Collaborative team player, dedicated to contributing to team success.
- Ability to identify problems and opportunities as well as bring forward solutions. Able to identify when help is required and to ask for assistance as needed.
