Job Description: Your Opportunity:The Mental Health & Addiction Stabilization Team (MAAST) is an extension of the Pediatric Consultation Liaison Psychiatry Service (PCLPS) at the Stollery Children’s Hospital. MAAST is a client-centered, recovery-oriented program that provides assessment, intervention and stabilization for children admitted to the Stollery with underlying acute mental health and/or addiction concerns that do not require immediate psychiatric care. This program supports inpatient and outpatient medical care teams by providing consults to clarify current mental health presentations and provide a comprehensive mental health & addiction assessment, safety planning, and referrals. Additionally, the Mental Health Therapist will provide outpatient mental health assessment, treatment, case coordination, crisis intervention and consultation to children, youth experiencing psychological, emotional, social and/or behavioral difficulties to children presenting with comorbid physical and psychiatric symptoms. The Therapist will provide linkages to community services and collaborate with physicians, parent(s) or guardians and community professional. The MHT will also be involved in case conferences, staff meetings, professional development activities, liaison with community partners and other related duties as required. This position has been identified and is anticipated to transition to Recovery Alberta effective September 1, 2024. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:Master’s degree in Psychology; or master’s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; or master’s or bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; or master’s degree in Nursing or Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable Alberta regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:Master’s degree in Nursing, Occupational Therapy, Social Work or Psychology with considerable experience in mental health assessment and intervention. An equivalent level of education and experience will be considered for candidates with considerable experience in pediatric mental health assessment and intervention within an acute-care setting and extensive knowledge in psychotropic medication management and administration. Registration in a professional regulatory body as defined by the Health Professions Act (CARNA, CRPNA, ACOT, CAP, ACSW). Registered Social Workers must be authorized to perform psychosocial interventions and designation as a Clinical Social Worker is preferred. Provisional status with current registration with CAP will be considered. 3-5 years of direct clinical experience, within the last 5 years, with the focus on children, youth and their families. CPR, NVCI training. Excellent interpersonal skills, computer proficiencies, and well developed written and verbal skills. Preferred Qualifications:Advanced knowledge and skill in psychiatric conditions, crisis intervention, mental health & risk assessment, assessment and treatment of mental, emotional and behavioral disorders is required.Please note:All postings close at 23:59 MT of the posting end date indicated.Security Screening:A satisfactory criminal record check and/or Vulnerable Sector Search is required prior to your first day of work.
