Job Description: Mechanical Technologist/Drafter – Nordstrong Equipment
Winnipeg, ManitobaOn behalf of our client, Nordstrong we are searching for a Mechanical Technologist or Drafter who is enthusiastic about lifelong learning and interested in collaborating directly with customers, engineering & production staff.
Reporting to the Engineering Supervisor, in this role you will play a key role in translating engineering concepts into tangible designs, while supporting and collaborating closely with engineers and project managers. to excellence, then this is the role for you.As the Mechanical Technologist, you will:
- Collect initial drawings, calculations and design ideas from engineers, and combine all relevantn data into coherent and complete initial design models for review and modification.
- Coordinate directly with engineers, project managers and product managers to understand project requirements, verify design details and recommend modifications as needed accordingto company standards and best practices.
- Verify all numerical specifications in technical drawings and schematics, using both CAD programs.
- Communicate with manufacturing, estimating and supply chain personnel to ensure all drawings and BOMs are accurate and complete prior to release for production.
- Provide support to engineering team as needed by creating technical drawings and digital models within deadlines and utilizing multiple methods to ensure deliverables include all relevant design details.
- Assist in ongoing project to standardize and unify design document standards by participatingin meetings and preparing presentation materials as necessary.
You and Your Experience:
- Understanding of manufacturing equipment including welding, fabrication, and power transmission design.
- Mechanical Engineering Technologist or Drafter proficient in SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
Experience in steel manufacturing processes such as machining, cutting, shearing, welding, painting, and assembly. * Ability to interpret engineering drawings and customer specifications.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications, especially Excel and Word, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with hands-on experience.
- Willingness to travel within Canada and the US, possessing a valid passport and driver’s license, with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Exceptional attention to detail, analytical, and organizational skills, coupled with a dedication to outstanding customer service and a proactive “must understand” mindset.
