The primary focus of this position is to lead the teams that develop and sustain best-in-class foundational technologies in support of ATB operations and strategic goals. This role is required to lead and collaborate with the respective technology teams to design, deliver, and support the technology strategy and all underlying network and infrastructure technologies. You will grow, develop and lead teams of experts in the domains of; public cloud, private cloud/on-premise infrastructure and network operations.AccountabilitiesStrategy Delivery & Technology Enablement:

  • As part of the senior leadership team, be a champion for ATB’s technology enablement efforts to provide safe, secure and reliable computing systems.
  • Collaborate with ATB teams to understand business priorities and deliver cost-effective, fit-for-purpose solutions.
  • Actively ensure the effective resourcing of the agreed initiatives with a focus to on-time delivery with high quality.
  • Actively negotiate vendor service statements of work and /or managed service contracts. Provide recommendations for contract approval to senior executives.
  • Establish and deliver on key strategic objectives for the Network and Infrastructure team, with a focus on the following service areas:
  • Public Cloud Migration and Management: Ensure ATB is moving , where appropriate, on premise workloads to the public cloud, including Infrastructure as a Services and Platform as a Service, with a focus to ensuring the effective management and monitoring while reducing costs.
  • Private Cloud/On Premise Infrastructure: Ensure the effective implementation and operation of core server technologies across the Windows, Linux and AIX stack, including service virtualization technologies. Ensure the effective implementation and operation of core storage technologies, including online storage but also backup, recovery and data archiving activities. This includes direct oversight of managed service partners.
  • Network: Ensure the effective implementation and operation of core networking technologies, wired and wireless, to ensure team members can rely on the technology services they need to do their jobs. This includes direct oversight of managed service partners (i.e. Long View Systems, Telus Communications, etc.).

Strategy & Management:

  • Collaborate with Technology Enablement teams to achieve Client Experience and Technology goals.
  • Develop and advance team members’ knowledge, skills, and careers.
  • Build and maintain strong trust based relationships with ATB Executive and management team members.
  • Ensure a culture of continuous improvement to enhance service delivery with respect to service disruption avoidance, documentation and maintenance
  • Research on new technology and emerging delivery methodology trends and determine the viability for ATB, particularly related to running core technology solutions.
  • Working closely with all ATB teams to assess and determine how ATB can better run our computing infrastructure and reduce overall cost to help ATBs efficiency ratio.
  • Management and oversight to department budget, forecast accuracy, and budget planning.
  • An active participant in ATB strategic and tactical planning processes to provide trusted technology guidance.

Key performance Indicator/Service Level Achievement:

  • Work to develop the key measurements to be used to measure service performance, including with our outsourced vendors.
  • Develop, maintain and communicate measurements related to technology trends, technology adoption for ATB and within the general industry.
  • Analyze key service trends and ATB needs to improve overall service reliability.
  • Perform regular review with the Client Experience and Technology groups and teams of metrics to identify areas requiring corrective action or improvements.
  • Ensure any plans developed to increase performance or delivery are subsequently executed on.
  • Responsible for developing a continuous improvement program to enhance delivery.

Skills, experience & requirements

  • Recognized Business and / or Information Technology Management degree or diploma preferred.
  • Extensive experience managing team leaders / managers (Minimum 10 years of IT and/or Banking / Investment Management experience).
  • Solid understanding of organizational adoption methodologies (i.e. change management).
  • Extensive experience in negotiating terms and managing technology service contracts and/or statements of work. Preference given to candidates that have negotiated these agreements.
  • Ability to perform well in high-paced, highly demanding environments.
  • Strong delivery focus, with demonstrable experience in building trusted relationships with stakeholders.
  • Strong analytical and interpretive skills to recognize and understand complex issues, policies, regulatory requirements and industry information affecting ATB’s environment.
