Lifeguard and Swim Instructor will have:National Lifeguard – Pool certificationStandard First Aid (recertified within the last 36 months)CPR C certification (recertified within the last 12 months)YMCA Swim Instructor, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor, or Swim for Life Instructor certificationLifesaving Instructor would be considered an assetShould be able to work morning shiftsEvidence of a clear Police Information Check including a Vulnerable Sector SearchThree professional referencesWhat does this role look like at YMCA Calgary?Lifeguards and Swim Instructors will:Ensure a safe aquatic environment by following National Lifeguard standards and/or YMCA Policies and ProceduresDemonstrate exceptional customer serviceAre knowledgeable of YMCA programs and servicesComplete administrative tasks, update class rosters, lesson plans, check equipment, clean equipment, perform light maintenance tasks when not guarding or instructingPerform all scheduled water testsKeep pool area clean and organizedRespond to emergencies according to National Lifeguard standards and/or YMCA Policies and ProceduresWork as a team; communicate effectively with staff, volunteers and members in all situations.Attend all scheduled in-servicesAttend all necessary YMCA trainingFund DevelopmentParticipate in the Staff and Volunteer aspect of the Annual CampaignWhat qualities do we look for in YMCA Calgary Staff and Volunteers?Our diverse team of staff and volunteers are committed to making a positive impact in the community.
