Stewardship: We responsibly manage the resources entrusted to us.The Salvation Army Christmas Kettle Campaign is part of a century old tradition to contribute towards building strong communities by helping TSA to give hope to other.This is a temporary part-time position with flexible hours from November 12 – December 24, 2024.Working Conditions:

  • Work environment is typically in malls/stores
  • Standing for long periods will be required and exposure to cold weather

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:Incumbent may perform all, some, or similar range of duties as below.

  • Remain at the Kettle for the full shift (until relieved), ensuring security of donations received.
  • Respond to questions/queries from potential donors regarding SA ministries and programs.
  • Present a positive image (well-groomed/dressed) and represent TSA well while on duty.
  • Work with minimal supervision.
  • Must comply with all Salvation Army policies, procedures, and associated legislation.
  • Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
  • Perform other job-related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:Qualifications and education requirements:

  • Some high school coursework, completion of high school is an asset.

Experience:

  • Up to one year of related experience or working in customer service.
  • Money handling experience is an asset.
  • Related experience is an asset.

PREFERRED SKILLS/CAPABILITIES:

  • Willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
  • Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army’s health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Ability to provide an original copy of a Background Check that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required, including Child Check (if appropriate).
  • Enthusiastic Team Player with excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to lift 9 to 12 kgs (20 – 25 lbs).
  • Strong customer service skills; enjoy liaising and working with people of all ages and abilities.
  • Willingness to be flexible and work well under pressure with daily timelines and changing priorities.
  • Ability to maintain strict confidentiality in the handling of donor, volunteer, and organizational information.
